SHANDON BUNWANG

SPEECHAROONI

For those who don’t know me, my names Ricky, and I’d like to start with a quick apology. my interpreter was
unable to make it today, so you’ll have to bear with me.

I first met Shannon back in 2014 in a small Spanish restaurant called Lorenzo’s in Plymouth. I was a chef and he
was a waiter. I’d love to say that the friendship blossomed instantly, but sadly that wasn’t the case.
In walked a young Shannon..a good looking guy, confident but very cocky ..with an ego the size of a swollen
watermelon.

Not much has changed eh?!

He came up against the charm and the quick wit of a cheeky Irishman. We clashed, constantly trying to wind each
other up and push each others buttons. But what appeared to be polar opposites very quickly turned into the
realisation that we were both very similar indeed..in our humour, our hobbies, our morals, and our love for a good
night out.

There’s a lot I can’t repeat..but nights out included awkward animal dance moves which no one in the clubs
appreciated but us.. seeing who could slam the most jaigerbombs..and the classic scenario of getting into a flight
over invisible balloons.

Lucy, you look absolutely beautiful today, and we all know Shannon has done very well indeed. This has been a
massive year for you, and seeing you take everything in your stride has been incredible! You truly are an inspiration.
Can I get a massive round of applause for Lucy please.

Best friends are like four leaf clovers, they’re hard to find and very lucky to have. Even though I now live in New
Zealand, and we’ve actually only seen each other for maybe 20ish days in the last 4-5 years, which is crazy, I feel
the fact I am standing here today as your best man is a true testament to our friendship, and I truely consider you two
my best friends.

From back in the day in Plymouth, and now from afar in New Zealand, it has been amazing watching you’s both
grow and excel in life, both as wonderful individuals, and as a true power couple, who’s love and respect for each
other is clear as day.

I’m excited for your future, and all the dreams and goals you’re gonna achieve together. Life can be hectic so don’t
forget to relax and enjoy it..remember..you don’t need to swing hard to hit a home run!

And on that note

Can I ask everyone to raise their glass for a wee toast.

May your hearts be light and happy, may your smiles be big and wide,
and may your pockets always have, a coin or two inside.

To Shannon and Lucy!!
