COMMUNITY SERVICE GUIDELINES

The goal of Community Service Program is to encourage personal involvement of students. The
creation of community awareness and responsible leadership. In order to achieve this goal, the
following guidelines are to be observed carefully by the students undertaking the course:
1. All full time students are required to do hands on experience.
2. Hands on students should work for at least 90 hours within 10 weeks in a semester from
their commencement date i.e. (3 hours in a day, 3 days in a week for 10 weeks in a
semester).
3. All hands on students are required to deliver their services to the organizations during
morning hours from 8:00 or 9:00 onwards and not afternoon and evening hours.
4. The maximum number of hours in a day for hands on students is 4 hours.
5. Fulltime working students are entitled to work on projects due to their tight schedule but
the project must be equivalent to 90 hours of service in terms of financial contribution.
Furthermore, the students should spend not less than 10 hours on the ground interacting
with destitute members of the society.
6. Three class attendances in a semester are mandatory for all students who are enrolled for
the Community Service course.
7. CMS 3700 should not be taken as a fifth course, neither should it be taken alongside
internship
8. All the students enrolled for the course should register for visitation in the department’s
office not later than two weeks from the commencement of the semester.
9. The proposed projects should reach the CMS 3700 office by the second week of the
semester to seek approval.
10. All the students are supposed to submit their course work on time as stipulated by their
lecturers in their course outlines.
11. Students should always inform the course lecturer or concerned office about any incident
relating to his/her attached institution.
12. Punctuality during the class meetings and field supervision is mandatory.
13. Plagiarism is a violation of academic requirements and will not be tolerated.
14. Dressing code should be observed by the students while on attachments.
