It is not a secret that youngsters, both at present and in the past,

have to handle a number of difficulties in their everyday lives. Some

people, however, would argue that nowadays adolescents lead much
harder lifestyles than they did before.
To begin with, today’s education is of higher quality than it was in the
past, resulting in it being harder as well. These days, discoveries are
being made more than ever and the number of school subjects is
increasing. Therefore, students now have a greater amount of
knowledge to acquire than they had years ago. What is more,
extracurricular activities were inexistant in the past and teenagers
had more time to focus on their studies.
On the contrary, there is better access to work for young people
nowadays. For example, these days the career variety is wider and
more staff is required. As a result, it is easier to find a job now than it
was before. Furthermore, even though healthcare in the past was not
as developed as it is today and youngsters were vulnerable to a
bigger number of diseases, they lead much unhealthier and stressful
lives at present, which results in teenagers suffering from more
physical and mental health problems.
To conclude, despite the difficulties adolescents had to face in the
past, I believe that they have become even more and young people’s
lives are harder these days.
