North Lindsey College and the Highways Alliance, made up of North Lincolnshire Council and its consultants, will
accept the first students on a BTEC National Certificate in civil engineering course in September.

Young people looking towards a careers in civil engineering are to benefit from a new scheme.
It will involve a two-year civil engineering course with work placements.
On completion, six people could land themselves a full-time job.
North Lindsey College and the Highways Alliance, made up of North Lincolnshire Council and its consultants, will
accept the first students on a BTEC National Certificate in civil engineering course in September.
The partnership is inviting people, at least 16 years old, to an open evening today, between 5pm and 8pm at the
Kingsway Centre in Scunthorpe, to find out more.
The only criteria is to have four GCSEs grade C (or intermediate GNVQ). The partnership will consider mature
students.
The partnership will run the course on a day release basis and six students will receive fixed-term contracts from the
council, Clugston or Pell Frischmann.
Coun Bernard Regan, council cabinet member for highways and planning, said: "We have been praised for our
Highways Alliance Partnership, which works together to improve our roads and connect communities.
"We want to share this experience with young people interested in a career in civil engineering.
"It will provide a real opportunity to gain a whole range of experience, with the added bonus that up to six lucky
students will be offered work contracts.
"Students will get first-hand experience from all sides of civil engineering; the client, the contractor, and consultant,
so they are learning all aspects of the job from design and planning, to surveying and construction."
