2. Course Description

This subject provides students with an understanding of basic things required to know about the
physiotherapy practice. Secondly this subject designed for a student to give a fundamental
knowledge to go for clinical observation in physiotherapy department.

3. Aim and Expected Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this subject:


1. Develop understanding of history of physiotherapy and identify how physiotherapy
evolved as a current form of treatment
2. Demonstrate understanding of different physical means of historical treatment.
3. Develop understanding of the target population of physiotherapy management.
4. Gain knowledge of scope of physiotherapy and plan for students’ future practice as a
Physiotherapist
5. Demonstrate knowledge of basic communication required for clinical settings.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of the starting position and goniometer.
7. Develop understanding of the professional responsibilities of a Physiotherapist
8. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of maintaining professionalism in
relationships and the important boundaries in clinical settings.
9. Gain knowledge of the components of NAGI model, ICIDH-1 and International
Classification of Function for Physiotherapists
