The educational philosophy known as essentialism

which places a strong focus on disciplines like mathematics, language, science, and history, is
one that I think is extremely suitable to the demands or current condition of the institution where
I am currently employed. It mandates that instructions maintain high academic standards and
instruct students in traditional morals like deference to authority.

Since learning mode had already changed to the new standard by the time of the COVID-19
pandemic, it had a significant impact on the educational process. When students were examined
in class this academic year, gaps were found that clearly showed how this global crisis has
affected their learning possibilities. Teaching and learning are currently quite demanding because
most subject-area learning competencies or objectives are difficult to achieve because of time
restrictions and because students are still bridging learning gaps brought on by the abrupt change
in the learning modality.

The same is true for students’ acquisition of moral principles and proper behavior; I have seen a
difference between students’ manners in the pre-pandemic era and those of the present.
Returning to the aforementioned educational philosophy, I truly feel that essentialism is the best
educational philosophy to handle the ongoing issues in our institution. The relevance of major
curriculum subjects should be emphasized, and students should first understand the fundamentals
before moving on to more complicated concepts. It is essential to sharpen students’ moral and
intellectual standards.
To accomplish this educational goal, the teacher must therefore construct a disciplined classroom
and instill the fundamentals of academic understanding and character development. Although it
is teacher-centered, I think this concept can really help ensure that the goal is to address the
learning gaps gradually and have the most impact where it really matters, which is to go back to
the essence. Our students will succeed in a variety of subject areas if we, as teachers, help them
build a solid foundation of fundamental knowledge, along with culture and civilization, and
embed traditional virtues. This includes teaching every child the fundamentals necessary to help
them grow up to be methodical and self-disciplined citizens of the Philippines.

Motivation is a powerful ingredient for young learners; it ignites their hearts and minds, then
puts them into action. As I learned in this subject about philosophy, there are many things to
apply in the real world in order for us to be strong and effective leaders. We very much thank
you for your time, father, as our mentor in this journey of philosophy. We know our stand and
principles in life. God bless you always.
