Unit: BW Overview

1-1 Create an InfoCatalog and characteristics.

1-1-1 In the Administrator Workbench create your own InfoObject
Catalog (Technical name: GROUPXXCHAR, Description: Group
XX characteristics) for characteristics in your InfoArea
(CTS_HAND_XX).
From the Admistrator Workbench, menu (on left side), choose
Modeling - InfoObjects. Right mouse click your InfoArea 
Create InfoObject Catalog. Enter name and description, check
that Char. is marked as InfoObject type. Create and activate your
InfoObject Catalog. Return to the Administrator Workbench with
the green arrow.
1-1-2 In your new InfoObject Catalog create an InfoObject (CUSTXX,
Customer Group XX) of data type “character” and length 10.
Right mouse click the InfoObject Catalog  Create InfoObject.
Fill in data type and length in the corresponding fields. Activate
your InfoObject by pressing the acitvate icon. (match stick)
Note: Activation may take some time. As activation takes place,
objects may be viewed on the status bar.
1-1-3 Create another InfoObject (PRODXX, Product Group XX) of data
type character and length 12. Enable this characteristic to have non
time-dependent hierarchies.
Proceed as in 1-1-2, additionally mark the hierarchy enabling in
the Hierarchy tab of the InfoObject maintenance.

1-2 Create another InfoCatalog and a key figure.

1-2-1 Create an InfoObject Catalog (GROUPXXKEY, Group XX key
figures) for key figures in your InfoArea (CTS_HAND_XX).
Proceed as in 1-1-1, check that “Key figure” is marked as
InfoObject type.

1-2-2 In your new InfoObject Catalog create an InfoObject (SALESXX,

Sales Group XX) of type “Amount”. Use 0CURRENCY as
corresponding currency InfoObject.

 Right mouse click the InfoObject Catalog  Create InfoObject.
Fill in “0CURRENCY” in the field “Unit / currency” or select
from F4 help. Activate your InfoObject.

1-3 Create an InfoCube.

1-3-1 In your InfoArea (CTS_HAND_XX) create a Basic InfoCube

(SALESXX, Sales Group XX).
From the Admistrator Workbench, menu (on left side), choose
Modeling - DataTargets. Right mouse click your InfoArea 
Create InfoCube. Check that “Basic Cube” is marked. Fill in
name and description.

1-3-2 Use both of the InfoOjects that you have created to build your
InfoCube.
In the Characteristics tab select your InfoObjects CUSTXX and
PRODXX.
In the Key figures tab select your InfoObject SALESXX.

1-3-3 As time characteristic use 0CALDAY.

In the Time characteristics tab select 0CALDAY.

1-3-4 Create two dimensions Customers and Products.

Choose the Char tab.
Press the button Dimensions  Create  Enter description
“Customer”. Press Create again, enter “Products”.

1-3-5 Assign your InfoObjects to these dimensions.

Choose Assign. Select the checkbox CUSTXX, then click into the
Customer dimension field and press Assign.
Choose Assign. Select the checkbox PRODXX, then click into to
the Product dimension in the same way.
Close the dialog box. (green check mark)

1-3-6 Activate your InfoCube.

Press the Activate button in the button bar.
