 There are rules and regulations for international
travel.

 The most common entry control is


documentation, which include passports, visas and
health forms needed to depart from and return to a
country.
Passports
 Derived from the French
word passer, which means to
pass and port, which means
harbor.

 It is an official government
document for international
travel

 It certifies the identity and


citizenship of the bearer. It
permits him/her to leave his
own country.
Types of Passports
There are 3 types of
Passports:
1. Diplomatic - issued to
diplomats going overseas
on official business
2. Official – for government
employees traveling on
government business
3. Regular – for people
traveling for personal or
business reasons.

A. Vaccination Certificates
Two types of vaccinations:

1. The Required immunizations – are those legally


required by the destination to protect its citizens
from the importation of the disease.

2. Recommended immunizations – protect travelers


from diseases found at the destination.
B. Travel Advisories
 It alerts travelers about possible dangers abroad.
 They are usually issued by the embassy of a particular
country.

 There are 3 types of advisories:


1. Warnings – recommend that travelers avoid travel to a
particular country
2. Public announcements – may cover a specific country,
region, or the entire world.
3. Consular information sheets – alert travelers about health
risks, crime, entry laws, security problems, unusual
currency regulations, poor road conditions, and driving
laws.
C. Customs Regulations

 These are restrictions imposed by a certain country


on the value and kind of items that can be brought
into and taken out of its territory.
Foreign Exchange
Refers to the fluctuating rate in which the money of one country
can be exchanged for the money of another.

 Local currency – the money used in a particular country.

 Currency Exchange rates - is what the currency of travelers is


worth in the local currency.

 Buy rate – is the amount of foreign currency customers get


in exchange for their dollars when they buy the foreign
currency.

 Sell rate – is the amount of customers get when they


exchange leftover foreign currency back to dollars.

 1 Euro = 60.16 PHP
 1 USD = 52.56 PHP
 1 KRW= 0.047 PHP
 1 SGD= 38.33 PHP
 1 JPY= 0.47 PHP
 1 CAD=39.90 PHP

 1 AUD= 38.26
 1 CNY= 7.58

 Local currency : dollar ( USD)
 Currency exchange rate: 1 USD = 52.56 PHP

 Buy rate: 1,500 PHP = 28.54 USD


 Computation:
 1500 PHP / 52.56 PHP = 28.54 USD

 Sell rate: 3 USD = 157.66 PHP


 Computation:
 3 USD x 52.56 PHP = 157. 66 PHP
Activity:
 Suppose you went to Singapore and you want to
exchange you cash P 10, 500 to SGD.

 Find its:
 currency exchange rate
 Buy rate

Answer:
 Currency exchange rate is 38.33 PHP
 Buy rate: 273. 94 SGD
Activity:
You will be leaving Japan in an hour and you want to
exchange your remaining 1000 JPY to PHP.

Find:
a. Sell rate

b. Answer: 470 PHP


Where to Get Foreign Currency
 Big city banks do it as a service to their customers.

 In abroad, banks are the best places to exchange money.

 Foreign currency can be bought at international airports


that have currency exchanges.

 Exchange firms and banks charge a fee for exchanging


money.
Ways to Carry Money
 Money can be carried as cash, traveler’s checks, personal
checks, and credit cards.

 Carrying cash is dangerous yet a necessity.

 Traveler’s checks are available in the major currencies such as


US Dollar. Some are accepted for accommodations and
merchandise and exchange for currency.

 Major credit cards such as American Express, Master Card,


and Visa are accepted through out the world.
