· Abstract
Income inequality, in economics, significant disparity in the distribution of income
between individuals, groups, populations, social classes, or countries. Income
inequality is a major dimension of social stratification and social class. It affects
and is affected by many other forms of inequality, such as inequalities of wealth,
political power, and social status. Income is a major determinant of quality of life,
affecting the health and well-being of individuals and families, and varies by social
factors such as sex, age, and race or ethnicity.
On a global level, income inequality is extreme by any measure, with the richest 1
percent of people in the world receiving as much as the bottom 56 percent in the
early 21st century. Within the United States, income inequality is much greater
than in most other developed countries. In 2014, the richest 1 percent received 22
percent of total income, and the top 10 percent of U.S. households received about
60 percent of total income.
Greater income inequality can lead to monopolization of the labor force, resulting
in fewer employers requiring fewer workers. Remaining employers can
consolidate and take advantage of the relative lack of competition, leading to less
consumer choice, market abuses, and relatively higher real prices.
Here to notice one thing that there is a difference between income inequality and
wealth inequality.

· Introduction
Income inequality refers to how unevenly income is distributed throughout a
population. The less equal the distribution, the greater the income inequality.
Income inequality is often accompanied by wealth inequality, which is the uneven
distribution of wealth. Populations can be divided up in different ways to show
different levels and forms of income inequality, such as income inequality by
gender or race. Different measures, such as the Gini Index, can be used to analyze
the level of income inequality in a population . Income inequality, or the
imbalance of income earned by a group people, exists in countries throughout the
world. In the U.S., these differences in income have become pronounced o past
fifty years. Income inequality is not the same as wealth inequality; the former
involves salaries/wages while the latter involves net worth
