DEBATE TOPIC: TECHNOLOGY HAS DONE MORE

HARM THAN GOOD

Honorable judges, worthy opponents, chairlady and audience, Good
day. I, Okpenyi Filfine, respectfully thank you for your interest in this
issue; Technology has done more harm than good in society. As
previously said, I am hereby opposing the motion and with your
permission I would want to start by asking……WHAT IS
TECHNOLOGY?
To put it simply, technology is defined as the science or knowledge
that is applied to solve problems or create helpful tools. The major
question here, in my opinion, is what we have achieved constructively
using technology. It will be denying what we have accomplished by
turning a blind eye. Let's take a look at the transportation sector.
Border crossings are becoming quicker, more secure, and more
efficient as a result of technological advancements, which are lowering
transportation costs and increasing commerce. New businesses are
creating apps that provide inexpensive transportation in locations where
services are few or nonexistent. Drivers may now reroute around
gridlock or know when their bus will arrive thanks to the massive
growth of data. Now, the next sector where technology has helped
greatly, agriculture.
Over the last 50 years, the agriculture business has seen significant
changes. Farm equipment has grown in size, speed, and productivity as a
result of technological advancements, allowing for more efficient
cultivation of more area. Seed, irrigation, and fertilizers have all
improved dramatically, allowing farmers to enhance harvests.
Another area where technology has had a significant influence is
communication. The fast development and acceptance of new
technologies has altered the face of conventional media communication.
Twitter is another popular social media platform for sharing fast ideas
with people all around the world. Twitter is used by major organizations,
public personalities, and governments to instantly convey updates and
real-time answers to important public topics. 11 percent paid for news
online, 26% used a smartphone to obtain it, and 32% shared news pieces
via email and social media.
Today's healthcare sector is nothing like it was five years ago.
This is primarily owing to technological advancements and the daily
introduction of a slew of new inventive digital solutions. The medical
sector may create discoveries about treatments, data collecting, symptom
and illness research, cure research, and human helping gadgets by
utilizing technology (like hearing devices and speaking devices). The
medical field has become extremely accessible to the general public
because to technological advancements. Doctors and nurses now utilize
mobile gadgets to capture real-time data and update patients' medical
histories.
The world today is getting advance with more technologies
everyday which cannot be hindered by any means. The main thing on
technology is that, the good parts is far better than demerits. The
problems could be solved by not affecting us.
With this little points on mine, I hope I can convince you supporting the
motion of the topic above that, technology hasn't done more harm than
good, but done more good harm to humanity.
