breathing may occur after excessive inhalation.
Skin: May cause skin irritation.
Eye: Dust can cause temporary mechanical irritation of eyes, burning, redness, itching and pain.
Ingestion: None known.
Skin Corrosion / Irritation: Causes skin irritation.
Serious Eye Damage / Irritation: Causes serious eye irritation.
Respiratory or Skin Sensitisation: Based on classification principles, the classification criteria are not met.
Germ Cell Mutagenicity: Based on classification principles, the classification criteria are not met.
Carcinogenicity:
Silica dust, crystalline, in the form of quartz or cristobalite and formaldehyde are classified by IARC as a
Group 1 - Carcinogenic to humans
Palygorskite (Attapulgite) (long fibres, > 5 micrometres) and acetaldehyde are classified by IARC as a Group
2B - Possibly carcinogenic to humans
Palygorskite (Attapulgite)(short fibres, < 5 micrometres) is calssified by IARC as Group 3 - Not classifiable as
to its carcinogenicity to humans.
Ethenol, homopolymer is classified by IARC as a Group 3 - Not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to
humans.
Reproductive Toxicity: Based on classification principles, the classification criteria are not met.
Specific Target Organ Toxicity (STOT) - Single Exposure: May cause respiratory irritation.
Specific Target Organ Toxicity (STOT) - Repeated Exposure:
Based on classification principles, the classification criteria are not met.
Aspiration Hazard: Based on classification principles, the classification criteria are not met.
Chronic Health Effects:
Plaster of Paris: Testing of dust from USG plaster of Paris has not detected respirable crystalline silica.
Crystalline Silica: Exposures to respirable crystalline silica are not expected during the normal use of this
product; however, actual levels must be determined by workplace hygiene testing. The weight percent of
respirable crystalline silica may not have been measured in this product. Prolonged and repeated exposure to
airborne free respirable crystalline silica can result in lung disease (i.e., silicosis) and/or lung cancer. The
development of silicosis may increase the risks of additional health effects. Smoking in combination with silica
exposures increases the risk of cancer. The risk of developing silicosis is dependent upon the exposure
intensity and duration.
Mica: Prolonged and repeated breathing of respirable mica dust may cause lung disease (pneumoconiosis).
The extent and severity of lung injury correlates with the length of exposure and dust concentration.
Existing Conditions Aggravated by Exposure:
Pre-existing upper respiratory and lung diseases such as, but not limited to, bronchitis, emphysema and
asthma. Pre-existing skin diseases such as, but not limited to, rashes and dermatitis.
12 . ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
