18. A Lord Lytton (1876-1880) passed the Vernacular Press Act in 1878. By this
Act, the Magistrates of the districts were empowered without the prior
permission of the Government to call upon a printer and publisher of any
kind to enter into a bond, undertaking not to publish anything which might
"rouse" feelings of disaffection against the Government. The magistrate
was also authorized to deposit a security, which could be confiscated if the
printer violated the bond. If a printer repeated the violation, their press
could be seized. Thus, the Vernacular Press Act of 1878 gagged the press

There was now a popular protest against this Act. This Act was later
repealed by Lord Ripon in 1882.

members. The most important function of the committee is to suggest
alternative policies to bring efficiency and economy in administration.
The Committee on Public Undertakings - The Committee on Public
Undertakings consist of 15 members elected by the Lok Sabha and 7

144. C Union Cabinet has approved the inclusion of 12 caste communities of
Chhattisgarh in the list of Scheduled Tribes. The Cabinet also approved
the inclusion of some tribal communities of Himachal Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh in the list of Scheduled Tribes. Tribal
Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said that the move will help them availing
welfare benefits.
145. C Buddhavanam, the first-of-its-kind Buddhist Heritage Theme Park project,
was inaugurated in Telangana.
It was developed by the Telangana State Tourism Development
Corporation at Nagarjunasagar. The corporation is also exploring to set
upBuddhist Monasteries of different countries and Buddhist University near
Nagarjunasagar.
146. A The Museum of the Future in Dubai was recently opened for the public
view. It was inaugurated by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the
UAE.
The museum claims to transport the visitors to the year 2071, to coincide
with the centenary of the founding of the UAE. It is a seven-storey, pillar-
less structure, spanning an area of 30,000 sq m. It is designed as a
laboratory designed to promote innovation among leading scientists.

148. C The Delimitation Commission is formed by Government of India. The main
task of the Commission is to redraw the boundaries of the various
assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies based on latest census. It is a
powerful institution. The orders of the Delimitation Commission cannot be
challenged in a Court of Law. The orders of the Delimitation Commission
are laid before the Lok Sabha or the State Legislative Assembly, but they
cannot effect any modifications in the orders. So far, 4 Delimitation
Commissions (1952, 1963, 1973 and 2002) have been established in
India.

visited centrally-protected ticketed monument for foreign visitors. in 2021-
22. Taj Mahal was the most popular centrally-protected ticketed monument
for domestic visitors. The Red Fort and the Qutub Minar were the second
and third most visited sites.
150. B “Ungalil Oruvan” (One Among You) is the autobiography of Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister M K Stalin. It was recently released by Congress Leader
Rahul Gandhi.
The event was attended by National Conference leader Omar Abdullah,
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Bihar Opposition leader
Tejashwi Yadav.
