Consumer financing is now considered a lynchpin for the revival of economic growth in
Pakistan. Not only that the sector has developed its roots and grown enough to withstand
exogenous shocks but has played a major role in improving standard of living the middle class
and lower income groups, who had no access to credit, hitherto before.
Pakistan’s banking system by opening its doors for mortgage, automobile, and other consumer
durables, has broadened the borrower base and brought in its fold individuals who had never
used bank credit for their financing needs. BOP’s RFD is playing active role in supporting The
Government of the Punjab. The dedicated team is working indefatigably & tirelessly round the
clock even on off days for managing schemes’ undertakings starting from application collection
to accounts monitoring.

Nurtures the best in nature

Our Strategic Business Plan identifies Agriculture as a priority sector. Agriculture is the base on
which the edifice of national economy is built and, needless to emphasize, also constitutes the
fulcrum for poverty alleviation, employment generation and over all prosperity of the farmer.
Our countrywide network of branches, that too predominantly at Tehsil level/remote rural
locales and environs, affords us advantageous flexibility, outreach and demographic coverage
to access and serve the Agrarians at their convenience on their doorsteps. Our staff includes
over 125 professionally qualified and well trained Agriculture Credit Officers, fully conversant
with latest farming procedures and practices and well versed in customs, norms, social ethos
and aspirations of our tillers. Through our team, we are actively involved in disseminating
information, imparting knowledge and rendering practical assistance at the level of every
individual customer.
We poses the scientific wherewithal to encourage farmers to invest in state of the art
equipment, tools and implements etc. in the Dairy sector, especially in the wake of ever rising
demand for Dairy Products. We enable our customers to achieve even greater productivity by
enabling enhanced milking capacity, quality assurance, proper preservation and secure storage,
as well as transportation to processing facilities. We have also recently launched Livestock
Development initiatives, while our scheme for Fish Farming too has gained great popularity and
success.

Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector contributes significantly towards national GDP,
employment generation and export earnings. Hence, the impact of financial inclusion of SMEs
has important implications for economic growth, competitiveness, and job creation. The
potential for this sector to contribute to the economic development objectives of Pakistan, in
areas like creating jobs, increasing incomes, improving competitiveness, boosting exports and
fostering economic growth is the justification for a strategy of support to unleash the sector’s
potential.

LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE SME FINANCING

Use of technological innovations in SME banking may pave the way for the banks to deliver
their financial services to the target clients at a relatively low cost. The use of technology also
reduces bank’s clients’ searching and exploring cost. Although branchless banking, internet
banking and SMS alert services are becoming common as a norm of current banking practices,
technology can also be used in broad banking services like cash management (by integrating
payrolls, trade credits & receivables), credit origination (through online credit applications) and
other services etc. As a modern concept, financial technology (Fin Tech) is used to facilitate
financial services by using technology. It aims to provide products and services through online
and mobile channels. Currently, financial institutions are using Fin Tech for better customer
service delivery and speedy expansion of branchless banking in Pakistan.
