Survival is an extensive topic and as michael scott once said “The strong survive, but the

courageous triumph. Survival can be defined as many things but in my words it means:
someone who overcomes a difficult challenge or scenario and lives to tell the tale. We
can learn a lot about others' experiences with survival and we can even relate
sometimes, lessons we can learn could be that life is worth more than we think or that
you should never give up and try your hardest. That kind of information can help us in our
daily lives as it teaches us that we can do anything and everything as long as we put our
mind to it.

A very brave and courageous person by the name of Ada Blackjack who survived
Antarctica and was on an expedition to a remote Siberian island. Ada Blackjack's story is
that she set sail with 4 white men and were on an expedition to a remote island located
in Siberia. They had to endure temperatures that were -50 degrees and there were polar
bears and other things like scurvy to deal with. They lived through this terrible situation
because of Ada's great leadership skills, perseverance, courage and bravery. She led her
group of explorers to victory as she taught them valuable survival skills like how to find
food and how to start a fire. This story told me that sometimes you need to take charge
so that you can succeed and make progress in a situation and that you can do anything.

Another equally impressive and treacherous story is the story of Aron Ralston, he was
hiking when a 800 pound boulder pinned his arm down and he was stuck for 5 days. It’s
crazy how they survived this isn’t it? They had to deal with being stuck under a boulder
whilst it crushed his arm, he had no food, no water and no way to contact his family and
he was stuck in a narrow canyon and on day 5 he drank his own urine. He made it
through this terrifying ordeal because he cut off his own arm using some of the tools
that he had on him. Although this was painful, he had no other choice but to cut off his
own arm to free himself from the boulder. He must have been very brave and luckily he
had brang those tools with him and that means he is a very prepared person. This story
has shown me that if i'm in a difficult situation i should try to figure out the best way to
handle it before making a big decision on what to do.

In summary, a survivor is someone who survives a dangerous situation or someone who

overcomes a difficult challenge and lives to tell the tale. Everyone has survived
something whether that be something big like a plane crash or something very very
small like almost landing on your head, u can even survive mental illness or diseases like
cancer or depression. When I have to survive something one day I will remember the
stories of Ada Blackjack and Aron Ralston. And I will remember to be more brave and
courageous and make sure I'm safe and alright. And make sure that if you're ever
struggling with something that is difficult just remember, that you will make it out better
than you came in because that’s what survival is all about.
