CALMING
YOUR PET'S
ANXIETY
CREATE A FEELING OF SAFETY AND SECURITY
WITH JIN SHIN JYUTSU.
JIN SHIN
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a light touch energy
therapy from Japan that is innate to us all. I
teach pet owners to use their own light

JYUTSU touch to connect with their pet in profound

ways to improve common emotional and
physical conditions.

- & - Does the sound of thunder send your dog

YOUR PET
racing behind the couch? Does your cat hide
out when company comes? Or maybe your
pet is anxious generally when you leave
them alone. Many of our beloved pets have
anxiety at their core that is expressed
during these kinds of events.

With Jin Shin Jyutsu, you can help your pet

calm and relax by using your light touch in
specific locations on their body when
situations arise or to help general anxiety by
creating a feeling of safety and security.

3-STEP
GUIDE TO
CALMING STEP 1: PREPARE
It's great if you can start working with your

YOUR pet before stressful events happen. Make

sure your pet has had their basic needs
met - food, exercise, playtime. Find a
comfortable place to work together away
from distractions. This could be their bed

PET'S or stall, your lap, under a tree, on the floor,

anywhere your pet likes.

If you're working with your pet during an

ANXIETY anxious time, just be where they are and

don't worry about the rest. Take a few
deep breaths to calm yourself and begin.

STEP 2: OFFER
Your pet can be in any position. Place one
hand softly on their back right at the
shoulder blade area. The other hand goes
right between the legs at the center chest.
If your pet is used to hand movement,
begin by petting and gradually slow down.
It doesn't matter which hand you use or
where you are. Just make the connection.

Give your pet the freedom to move about.

They may walk away and return. They may
go from one position to another. If they're
sensitive to touch, just hover your hands
an inch or two off of their body or start
with just one hand, then add the other. Be
patient. The first time you offer Jin Shin
Jyutsu they may only want 5 minutes. After
a few times, they'll come to you asking for
more.

STEP 3: REPEAT
How you repeat is up to you. My
suggestion is to offer this hold off and on
when you're with them to get your pet
used to this touch. The more you do this
hold, the calmer they will become. Then,
when a triggering event shows up, they'll
respond less strongly and you'll use the
hold to comfort them as needed.
