3. School is an avenue for pupils to realize their potentials. Through school, pupils are educated and given
formal training. Aside helping them to realize their potentials, the school trains pupils to be morally upright by
teaching them to be respectful, obedient and truthful.
The school is equally a place where pupils pick up other unwanted characters mostly due to peer influence. In
this case, the bad nuts negatively influence the good nuts. So, it was not surprising that Apleku and though were
two friends, had different characters. While the former was praised by every teacher for showing good
character, the latter was always punished for wrongdoings.
One afternoon, as everyone was getting ready for lunch, something unusual happened. The loud noise, screams
and cries from the JHS1 classroom drew everyone’s attention to that very class. Osebo was on the floor
screaming and shouting while he held his leg. His colleagues and the teachers around tried to help him get on
his feet, but this yielded no positive results. Osebo had broken his left ankle. The pain was so much that he
could not cease screaming. After further interrogations, it was discovered that Osebo twisted his left ankle when
he tried the famous “bg33dz3” dance.
For days, Osebo could not go to school. Not only did he miss classes, his parents spent a lot of money in
treating his injury. Pupils must make it a habit to shun bad company and stick to their books. Teachers and
parents must also advise pupils on the consequences of following bad peers.
