Tremie Pipe Setting

After the rotary drilling is completed, the drill bucket is taken out and the steel cage already
installed. then the tremie pipe must be installed. The tremie pipe for soldier pile casting is
adjusted to the depth of the soldier pile hole. The join sealing of the tremie pipe must be on
good condition to minimize the failure of the sealing that can make the water enter the pipe
during concreting. The tremie bucket will be attached to the top end of the tremie pipe using a
tremie guard frame. The tremie bucket is the entry point for fresh concrete in the work of casting
soldier piles.

Concrete Pouring
Before the pouring concrete, tremie must be install first. To ensure and keep the position of the
tremie is on the center, along pouring process, tremie must install with tremie guard frame that
shows on Figure 6-19. The bottom of the tremie must be setting 30-50 cm from the

bottom of pile.

1. The first pouring from concrete pump into the bucket, the filling concrete not until full of
the bucket and let the first concrete go down to the bottom of the pile.

2. After all the concrete go down, the next filling is until the bucket full and if the pouring
already around 4 m(tremie embedment to concrete), tremie will lifting and the upper
segment that under the bucket will remove and then will joint again.

3. Every lifting 4 m will do same thing and repeatedly. When lifting the tremie, give it a little
shaking on the tremie to give the pressure to the concrete. The mud and water on the hole
will rise to the to surface.

4. The pouring estimate carries out minimum until 1 m of cut of level or more that based by
site condition. The good concrete shall be found at the COL. Before the tremie pipe is pulled
out, the concrete surface in the pipe is 0.8m higher than the elevation of the pile top.
Hole Collapse
Hole collapse during drilling:

1. if it is a slight hole collapse, it does not affect the normal drilling cannot be treated;
2. if the hole collapse cannot continue drilling, it is necessary to backfill the soil until the natural
sinking time is ripe before drilling.

Hole collapse during pouring:

After pulling out the steel cage, backfill the original soil and re-drill it after stabilization.
