Maintenance
Steel Construction
After the first 20 hours' operation (yet 6 months after the crane has been put to service at
the latest) all bolted joints are overhauled and tightened up. Special attention is here
drawn to the bolted joints of the ball bearing slewing ring . These must be tightened up
according to the tightening momentum on assembly drawing . After this, the crane must be
checked once a year for loose bolts and cracks .
Ropes
At least once a year the rope must be examined for tear and wear.
Machinery
The machinery must be checked for loose bolts and cracks with the same intervals as the
steel construction . Also rope pulley, rope fixing and hook must be checked, just like gear
and hydraulic system must be examined for oil spillage.
If necessary to dismantle the gears and brakes for any reason, see service manuals.
Hydraulic System
All the hydraulic system should be overhauled for leaks, loose bolts and cracks with the
same intervals as the other machinery. If a single jointing proves to be leaky several times
in spite of tightening up, the tube should be renewed.
Air Filter
The air filter is built into the filling-up stub and should be cleaned at intervals or perhaps
renewed.
Return Filter
Type : K051154
Filter element of paper web with degree of fineness 30 micron
Spare part No. for filter element: P171616
It is recommendable to clean the filter element the first time after 8-10 hours' operation.
After this the element must be cleaned at least once a year.
Change of Oil
The hydraulic oil should be changed the first time after 25-50 hours' operation and the
once a year.

From time to time condensate will form in the oil tank. Loosening the plug in the drain tube
checks this. If the exhausting liquid is free of water, there is no condensate in the tank.
Lubricating
Hook
The swivel at the hook must be lubricated when it is required with usual machine oil.
Rope Pulley
The shaft pin is provided with grease nipple at the end. See lubrication nipple chart.
Rope
The rope is delivered lubricated , but before the crane is put to service and then at least
once a year the rope must be lubricated with a suitable lubricant. See lubricating diagram.
Topping Cylinder
The cylinder is suspended in hinged ball bearings provided with feed lubricating nipple . As
re-lubricating (as for the ball bearing slewing ring) must also prevent rust and intrusion of
damp, it must be lubricated till fresh grease comes out at the bearing. Re-lubrication once
a month . See lubricating diagram.

1. General information
These 2-way flow control valves (drop-rate braking valves) type SB and SQ restrict the flow down to the set figure rather indepen-
dent of the respective load pressure. A large cross section area is opened up in reverse flow direction via the patented sliding
throttle (see below). This way, an otherwise necessary by-pass check valve to minimize the back pressure, is superfluous.
With all other conventional designs, using fixed metering orifices, the smaller the regulated flow (i.e. the smaller the metering orifice
required) , the greater the flow resistance will become.
They consist basically of a cylinder liner (housing) with control piston and piston spring, plus a freely-movable metering orifice disk
(patented sliding throttle). This is brought into the operational pos. (control position) by the flow medium, and forms an annular
orifice in the control piston . The flow resistance of this orifice, in conjunction with the preloading (setting length) of the piston spring,
determines the magnitude of the regulated flow. In the opposite direction, the orifice moves completely out of the control position,
the metering orifice (annular orifice) is raised up, and flow is possible completely independent of any setting range and with
minimum resistance (check valve effect).

5.2. Version with housing, that can be adjusted and locked externally
Version
• The control piston of the drop-rate braking valve can be blocked via the set-screw for functional
tests of line rupture safety valves in the circuit (e.g. stackers). This cuts-off the control function
of the drop-rate braking valve and enables unhindered flow B, C, D ~A.
• The curve of the standard version is positively angled to prevent oscillations of the cylinder
during downward movement. This means the resulting flow will be higher in the area of Pmax
than adjusted (setting is for 50 bar at HAWE if not specified otherwise)
• This curve can be more or less erected with different piston/orifice combinations (e.g. type
-0
SB 275 K). Attention: It has to be checked whether undesired oscillations do occur at the
respective application.
