2. Summary of the proposal

1.1 Objectives of proposal
• To supply safe and wholesome water to the consumer.
• To supply water in adequate quantity.
• To make water available within easy reach of consumers and
• To deliver sustainable health & hygiene benefit to the rural population.

1.2 Impact on land use

The land use will be according to the existing land use laws. The land use will be for
reservoir, inlet at source and tap stand for community tap.

1.3 Adverse impact on the environment impact on human life, and population pressure
During the construction phase of the project, the local community will get employment
which will help the local economy. Impact on environment is less compare as there is
less no of trees to be cut. For every no of trees cut, 10 trees will be planted to compensate
for the environment impact. After the completion of the project, the local people will
get wholesome water which will improve the health condition and help to eradicate
waterborne disease. The living condition will improve and people will stop migrating
to other areas for better living.

3. Proposal details
The proposal is for construction of water supply scheme. The installation capacity will
be enough to sustain the supply of those areas without interruption at peak hours.
Number of houses to be operated per day is around 300 nos.

Materials to be used
For the construction of this project, the materials to be used are cement, sand, aggregate,
brick, HDPE pipe, GI pipe, Materials for fitting, etc. The quantity of the material used
will be according to the designed estimate considering losses.

Emission resulting from the implementation of the proposal

i. Solid
Solid emissions are Concrete mix, left over brick, Sand, Aggregate, Pipe cutting etc.
ii. Liquid
Liquid emission is negligible during the implementation of the proposal.
iii. Air
Air emission Heat, cement and concrete dust to the air, vehicles emission etc.
iv. Gas
Emission coming from the implementation of this project is mainly Carbon dioxide
(CO2). The CO2 emission from the concrete production is directly proportional to the
cement content used in the concrete mix; 900 kg of CO2 are emitted for the fabrication
of every ton of cement.
v. Noise
Noise pollution is negligible during the operation phase of the project. During
construction phase the noise created by vehicle carrying materials.
vi. Dust
Dust emission during construction phase is concrete dust, cement dust during vehicle
movement, During excavation work.

Energy to be used
i. Type
Fossil fuel for vehicle, Electricity for pipe fitting. The project is of gravity flow so no
electricity needed for operation, needed only during maintenance period if necessary.
ii. Sources
Available nearby area.
iii. Volume of consumption
Depend upon the usage per day up to base period.

Human Resource requirements

Human resource needed are skilled labor for concrete and pipe work, unskilled labor
for carriage work. Technical skill like engineer for design, site engineer, site supervisor
Etc.

Resources required for the implementation of the proposal

i. Total (Gross) Capital
The total project cost is Rs. 1,00,00,000 including 10% for environment conservation
and overhead cost.
ii. Working Capital
Initially 10-15% will be allocated at the site clearance work and for material purchase.
And further fund will be given at the end of the month for smooth work.
iii. Land area
Around 10 sq m area will used for each reservoir, 15 sq m for inlet and total no. of
reservoir is 4 so, total land use is 55sq m.
iv. Machinery and tools
Basic construction machine and tools needed for the construction work.
Detailed particulars of the area where the project is to be implemented
i. Map

ii. Population and condition relating to settlements in the area as well as in

the nearby areas
The area is sparsely populated with low population density. The population growth rate
is one of the lowest in Nepal. People earn mainly by agriculture and cattle farming.
People have semi concrete, timber and stone masonry house.
iii. Sensitive things and object close to the project area
There is no any sensitive things and object located close to the area where proposal is
to be implemented. If found any, it will be solved with local participation and local
government.
iv. Current situation
The people living in those area have to collect water from spring, well situated far from
the area which takes around 1hr to 3hr and up to three times a day to fetch water
depending upon the location of the house. People have to store water in large vessel
like water tank, plastic cylinder, plastic container to use throughout the day. There
comes drought situation during dry period.
v. Source of water
Ther water use for the distribution is from spring source which is around 1Km from the
location.
vi. Arrangement made for disposing or processing the waste
The amount of waste generated by the project is of small quantity and can be disposed
of nearby and recyclable waste will be recycled.
vii. Paths for movement in the area where the proposal is to be implemented
There is well connectivity to the project site from the district headquarter. The road is
single lane earthen road for connectivity.
