ASSIGNMENT #1
1. List down at least five (5) rules at home, in school, and in a society where you belong. (5pts.)
At home:
• House curfew
• Respect elders
• Do respective assigned chores
• Ask permission
• Always have meals together
At school:
• Always be punctual
• Follow the dress code (Uniform)
• Don’t Cheat
• Respect the instructors and peers
• Prohibiting the usage of cellphone in class
In society:
• Barangay Curfew
• No violence
• Traffic rules
• Noise regulations
• Proper waste disposal

2. Which of the rules you listed do you find constricting? Why? Explain by providing examples.
(10 pts.)
• House curfew (At home), it is one of the constricting rules at home for it is very
inconvenient, for example one time I have a class until 8:30pm and after class we need
to do some group meetings for the next days reporting and it was finished at 9:30pm my
curfew is 10 pm so I’ve got 30 minutes to travel going home but then I got stuck in the
traffic and got home at 11:30 pm and I got scolded a lot and prohibited to go out with my
friends.
• Ask permission (At home), another constricting rule at home because it limits our freedom
in deciding for ourselves, for example when going out with friends we can’t decide if we
can go or not because we still need our parents’ permission or approval before deciding.
• Follow the dress code (Uniform) (At school), one of the constricting rules at school
because schools are so strict when it comes clothing, for example I went to school
wearing my PE uniform because I have a PE class but the guards didn’t let me enter the
school because I wasn’t wearing the proper uniform that should be skirt and blouse.
• Prohibiting the usage of cellphone in class (At school), is another constricting rule at
school because it’s limiting the learning tools that a student may use inside the class, it
restricts students from using to the maximum advantage these resources for learning. For
example, when doing some activity that requires specific information and the only
available source of information is books but the information that is in the book is lacking
since using cellphones in class where you can easily access any information you needed
is prohibited you need to finish the activity with only the information you’ve got in the book
even if its lacking.
• Noise regulations (In society), it is one of the constricting rules in society because it limits
evening activities, excessively constricting rules can have negative impacts on residents'
well-being and sense of freedom within their own homes. For example, when there was
an occasion that is being celebrated by the whole street it was forcefully stopped because
it was already past 9pm and the whole street should already in silence in that time.
• Barangay Curfew (In society), another constricting rule is the curfew that was set by the
barangay for it creates inconvenience in some people, for example when my father was
going home late because of his job he got hold and questioned by the patrols because it
was late and past the curfew instead of him being at home, he stayed at the patrols post
all night.

3. Why are rules important to social beings? (5 pts.)

Rules are important to social beings because it sets a standard on how a person should act in
different places and situations and on how to socialize with another person. Individuals are
encouraged to cooperate and collaborate when rules are followed, they may collaborate
successfully in pursuing similar objectives if they follow the same set of rules. It gives a great
foundation in creating a harmonious existence, promoting unity and consistency within a group
or community. Every person develops a feeling of belonging as well as identity as a result of
common standards and regulations. Solid regulations give a basis for solving differences and
disputes. If every person knows the rules, disputes may be settled using common knowledge of
what's acceptable and unacceptable for its purpose is to ensure the safety and security of
individuals along with society as a whole. It assists in the prevention of dangerous behaviors
and safeguarding human beings against possible dangers.
