How to Create the 4 Mil (0.1 mm) End Mill Tool in BoardMaster

Requirements
- BoardMaster software
- Tool parameters

Problem / Procedure Solution

1) Open BoardMaster software.

Note: Make sure that you create the new tool in the proper increment. If you created
a tool in CircuitCAM using Metric increments, make sure that you are using Metric
increments in BoardMaster. If you created a tool in CircuitCAM using Imperial
increments make sure you are using Imperial increments in BoardMaster. You can
change the increment in BoardMaster by going to Configuration/Settings and
selecting the unit Inch or MM. There is no MIL increment in BoardMaster, but 1 MIL
is the equivalent to .001 Inch. This particular document utilizes the Metric setting.

Note: This document refers to machines with a 60,000 RPM or higher motor
utilizing ½ oz. Copper FR4.

2) Go to Configuration/Tool Library/Mill/Drill.

3) This will open the Mill/Drill Tool Edit window.

4) Depress the button.

11) Fill in the = 0 (if necessary)

12) Fill in the = RF-Milling Tool 0.1 mm (4 mil) The description

can be anything you want it to be, however; you can look at other similar tools
in the list and keep the description uniform.

13) Place a bullet in

14) Fill in the Maximum Life Cycle [mm or no. of holes].

15) Fill in the Optimal speed. The Rotation[1/min] is the RPM’s. This is limited to
the maximum rotation speed of the motor. The milling[mm] is how fast the
head will move the tool through the material

16) For all S series machine, fill in the Z-Hub[mm] with the below parameter.

17) Below are three examples of a 0.1mm (4 mil) End Mill created in
BoardMaster fr4-60.tol for C& M series, S series, and H series.
