In 1988, the firm chose to go public to extend its market globally. It expanded its company
effectively by creating manufacturing centres in Ireland, Limerick, Africa, Europe, and the Middle

Its market value is increasing, and in 2001, it became the world's largest computer system

In a deal including private equity firm Silver Lakes, Microsoft Corp., and Dell Technologies Inc.,
the company went private in 2013 for $24.4 billion, or $13.65 per share. As the company
suffered, Michael Dell agreed to take it private, wanting the freedom of movement that comes

by becoming private. Micheal Dell opted to repurchase his firm's stock because he believes a

Dell said in 2018 that it would re-enter the public market through a complicated deal, including

about the company's debt by acquiring an existing publicly traded stock. Dell changed its name
from Dell Computers to Dell Technologies due to this move.
