2. A pack of brand A coffee beans contains 160 g of Brazil coffee beans and 40 g of Vietnam
coffee beans. It is given that the price rate of Brazil coffee beans is $0.7/g and the price of a
pack of brand A coffee beans is $120.
(a) Find the price rate of Vietnam coffee beans in $/g. (3 marks)

(b) If a pack of brand B coffee beans contains 90 g of Brazil coffee beans and 60 g of
Vietnam coffee beans, find the price rate of brand B coffee beans in $/g. (2 marks)

collected will be more than the rental fee of the coach by $210. If each student pays $60, the
total amount collected will be less than the rental fee of the coach by $70. Find the amount
each student has to pay if the rental fee of the coach is evenly shared by the students.

10. Jack has some rulers and correction pens in a box, where the ratio of the number of rulers to
the number of correction pens is 5 : 3 and the total weight of the rulers and the correction pens
in the box is 600 g. It is given that each ruler weighs 15 g and each correction pen weighs 25 g.
(a) Find the numbers of rulers and correction pens in the box respectively. (3 marks)

(b) Jack replaces some rulers in the box with the same number of correction pens so that the
ratio of the number of rulers to the number of correction pens becomes 3 : 5.
(i) How many rulers are replaced by correction pens? (2 marks)

(ii) The maximum load of the box is 1.2 kg. If Jack wants the ratio of the number of

14. In the figure, a rectangular advertising board is fixed to a vertical
wall and is supported by two straight cable wires AD and BD. It is
given that BAD = 45, CBD = 60, AB = 1 m and BC = x m.
(a) By considering ADC, express the length of CD in terms of x.

(ii) By considering BDC and using the result of (b)(i), express the length of CD in
