3. (a) Frequency of occurrence, = 4/10*100
= 40%
(b) Abundance = 8/4
=2
(c) Density = 8/10
= 0.8
4. (a) Frequency of Occurrence: Plant species that rely on the availability of water may
decrease in frequency or vanish from the habitat.
Reason: Some Plant species use water as a disperse agent. If there is no water to carry
the seed to the rest of the area the species will disappear.
(b) Abundance: Drought will cause a decrease in the abundance of plants in Habitat 2.
Reason: Plant need water for growth and reproduction, shortage of water will make
some plants die, lose leaves, or dry up.
(c) Density: The density of plants in Habitat 2 is likely to decrease during a drought
Reason: The reduced density could affect growth of new plants due to reduced
germination
5. –loss of biodiversity
–Extinction of species
–Soil Erosion
–Invasion of species
