The food crisis is one of the major problems that the world is currently facing. According
to the World Food Programme, conflict, economic shocks, climate extremes, and soaring
fertilizer prices are combining to create a food crisis of unprecedented proportions. We waste a
lot more food than we preserve. We have utilized a great portion of the available resources
without compensating for them. In the Philippines, one of the issues connected to food security is
the unpopularity of agriculture among the youth. There is also a lack of productivity in our
agricultural sector due to some deplorable factors, such as not having enough budget for
fertilizers and equipment.
Our advocacy, "Protect Our Children and Attain Food Security: A Battle for Hunger
and Malnutrition," aims to help all children learn the cycle of food production and
management. As many say, ‘The youth are the future of our country," and they have the
capabilities to contribute because they have the ability to easily learn and adapt to a new
environment. It is also important to instill in them the knowledge of how to plant without the
need for large fields and lands. Sustainable gardening allows them to produce agricultural goods
to consume personally or purchase in the market without having to spend large sums of money,
time, and energy.
Food security is very important, as this is the very first step in making positive changes
for people in malnourished states. It ensures that everyone has food to eat and digest and
nutrients to consume for balanced and regulated chemical processes in our body. The problem
with the food crisis in the country proves that the Philippines is indeed a poor country. The
government and people should participate in developing and making progress with the country’s
environment and state.
