Vocabulary

1. airspeed indicator- a flight instrument showing the airspeed of an aircraft. Abbreviation: ASI
2. altimeter- an instrument for showing height above sea level, used especially in an aircraft
3. attitude indicator- an on-board gyroscopic instrument used in aviation to determine and indicate
the longitudinal and transverse angles of inclination of an aircraft, that is, the angles of orientation
relative to the true vertical.
4. axle- Machinery. the pin, bar, shaft, or the like, on which or by means of which a wheel or pair of
wheels rotates.
5. berth- a ship's allotted place at a wharf or dock.
6. bunk- a built-in platform bed, as on a ship.
7. coxswain- a person who steers a racing shell.

throttle valve.
17. track- a structure consisting of a pair of parallel lines of rails with their crossties, on which a railroad
train, trolley, or the like runs.
18. turn indicator - an instrument for indicating either the amount or the rate of turn of an airplane

19. aerial - a rod, wire, or other structure by which signals are transmitted or received as part of a radio
or television transmission or receiving system.

radar, in communications, and for heating in microwave ovens and in various industrial processes.

50. melt - to turn from something solid into something soft or liquid, or to cause something to do this
