Bees make honey and beeswax and help farmers to produce fruit. Honey

bees live from the nectar and pollen that worker-bees collect from

flowers. They carry the pollen and nectar to their nests or hives. The

pollen is fed to the young bees. The nectar becomes honey which the

bees use as food when there is no fresh nectar. They store the honey

in honeycombs which they make from beeswax.

Construct a farmyard
• Learners must be divided into 5 groups

• Learners in each group to be given clay, straw, grass, sticks, etc.

• Each group will work on a part of the farmyard, e.g. animals, kraal,

etc.

• The teacher must explain the criteria for the activity.

Criteria

Learners will work in groups. Each group will execute a different part of
a farmyard. One group will form animals with clay, while another group
will construct a farmyard.

They will be assessed on neat ness, following instruct ions, creativity,


teamwork and presentation.

Learners must keep to the time allocated as they will not be allowed to
complete the activity at home. At the end of the activity learners will
put their completed models together to form a farmyard.

The total mark for the activity will be (3X5) =15.

performed in 6 stations. In each station a specific skill is to be
assessed as per criteria below. Each skill is allocated a maximum of 5
marks. The learner who performed the skill excellently will be given
the maximum mark. The learner who performed the skill adequately
will be given 3 marks. The learner who attempted the skill, but needs
assistance will be given 1 mark.
