INTRODUCTION
1. General
A. This Maintenance Manual has been prepared in accordance with Standard 100
of the AIR TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (Standard ATA 100).
B. The Manual provides all necessary information for aircraft operators regarding
linear force actuators P/N 176185 and 176188. It is the abbreviated version of
CMM 21-22-97 Rev. 3.
C. All maintenance and repair tasks are only to be done during maintenance at Au-
toflug GmbH facilities by CMM 21-22-97 Rev. 3.
2. Presentation of Manual
A. The standard page number blocks to be used for this Maintenance Manual are
as follows:
1 - 100 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. Description
The Linear Force Actuator, Part Number 176185/176188 is developed for use in the Air
Conditioning System of the SUPER PUMA MK II, Civil Version helicopter.
The unit consists of a permanent magnet field DC motor, a reduction gear-train and a
spindle assy. The DC motor drives the spindle assy through the reduction gear-train,
thus transforming the rotary movement of the motor into a linear movement of the spin-
dle assy. Two adjustable micro switches limit the stroke of the actuator. Two integral
mechanical stops provide limitation of the absolute travel of the spindle assy. The stops
are of the non-jamming type. Radio interference suppression is provided by a built-in ra-
dio noise filter.
The Linear Force Actuator is operated from the 28 VDC power supply of the helicopter. If
power is applied to the actuator, depending upon the polarity, the spindle assy is ex-
tended or retraced until the limit switches S1 and S2 are actuated at the end of travel by
the spindle assy.
