Value Generation
Value Generation Introduction
As our SUEZ Customer, you will get key Value Generation deliverables as part of our standard site service programs.
These Value Generation deliverables to you include, but are not limited to the following:
• Safety
• Communication
• Asset Protection
• Documented Savings

Working together, we will develop Value Generation Projects to meet your production and financial goals. Value
generation is at the core of our business and will be a continuous process to reflect your changing needs.

Customer Value can be described in two ways; our customer either receives new or more profitable revenue streams,
or our customer avoids costs that would otherwise reduce from their profitability.

The second way is where we can have the most impact for our customer and what we need to be continuously
focused on with our customers.

To be successful, we must stop selling products and services and begin selling the impact we can make on our
customer's business.

We deliver added value to our customers in quantified, time framed terms, measure it success by success, sell it, be
evaluated on it and most importantly, be paid for it.

Value Generation & Delivery Process – Plan, Execute, & Communicate

Customer Value can be described in two ways; receiving new or more profitable revenue streams and avoiding costs
that reduce profitability. SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions can directly impact the second and this is where our
focus will be. When selecting and partnering with SUEZ, the Value Generation & Delivery Process (VGP) will become
the basis for our service to & support of your plant. We will work together to develop this three-step process of
Planning, Executing, and Communicating.

➢ Plan – to properly define an accurate service obligation, we will first work together to know and understand
your true needs. Performing activities or services that are not true or perceived values waste everyone’s
time. It is imperative that the VGP be developed in conjunction with all teams so that all the critical wants
and needs are known and addressed.
➢ Execute – once we know and understand the needs and wants, we can develop a plan of service and support
meeting the VGP commitments, obligations and goals. Execution involves not only our treatment
performance, but insures that these solutions provide true value.
➢ Communicate – it is imperative that good communication occurs with the right people at the right time about
the delivered value expectations. It is very important that we gain agreement that we are delivering on our
value commitment. SUEZ strives to continuously meet and exceed your expectations.
Our customers universally indicate that they want Cost Reduction, Value Delivery, and Service Excellence. SUEZ will
always strive to engineer solutions providing cost reductions or optimizing chemical and energy requirements. We

will work together and use the Value Generation & Delivery Process to meet the your needs. We will commit to
providing Service Excellence by using this process at all times.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Basis

Controlling the KPI’s within the target range is the true measurement of success for any process. It is this that enables
costs to be controlled, availability to be assured and reliability to be maintained. The KPI’s for you will form the basis
for the monthly report and service structures. The KPI’s will be set up within a monitoring system and the monthly
report format with involvement of the operations team to ensure excellent control and communication is maintained
for these variables.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

Proof not Promises (PNP) is SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions commitment to measure success in terms of the
savings and performance improvements achieved for our customers. Proof not Promises sets a standard for
excellence and accountability that our customers can count on, providing documented proof that their profitability
goals have been met. It is the driving force of customer value generation, and the best possible demonstration of our
capabilities and dedication. It is our assurance to you that we will deliver on our commitment. Our executive
committee reviews the submissions, and selects a handful of the exceptional results to recognize. Examples of SUEZ
Water Technologies & Solutions delivering value and driving out cost have been demonstrated in our customer sites.

Water/ Process Treatment Program Design – Circulating Water

Treatment Program Highlights

HOW THE DEPOSIT CONTROL AGENTS WORK?

Scaling due to dissolved solids in water is a common problem in cooling water systems because of following
phenomenon:

High Salinity High Temperature

(Super saturation) (Reverse Solubility)

Salt Precipitation

Scaling Corrosion

With the improvement in understanding of the salt precipitation mechanism and the improved technologies in scale
control now there are ways to mitigate cooling water system scaling & fouling by the use Organic polymeric Deposit
Control Agents (DCA).
These DCA’s like PDC9313 mitigate fouling by the following mechanisms.

1. Crystal Growth Modification: The DCA molecule distorts the crystal formation thereby preventing crystal buildup
and thus scale formation is controlled.

Un-Distorted Crystal Distorted Crystal

2. Dispersion: The DCA molecule keeps the precipitating salts crystals well dispersed so that the crystals do not bind
together and grow into crystalline scale.

No DCA

GROWTH

With DCA NO GROWTH

Such a scale control mechanism using DCA’s can be achieved without the need to control pH.
These DCA’s are effective over a wide range of pH.

BIOCIDE TREATMENT

Microorganisms initiate deposition and corrosion and restrict water flow. Control of the organisms is absolutely
necessary. Control is achieved by killing the organisms on a regular basis. These organisms have ideal conditions in
cooling systems, to grow and multiply in the bulk water (planktonic) while some attach themselves to the walls
(sessile) of the cooling system. These organisms must be killed, dispersed and removed in the cooling tower
blowdown.

Here we have drawn special attention to control the microbiological growth as subjected system will be used Sugar
condensate as the Cooling Tower Make-Up (Which is having more organic load)

Product Descriptions

FloGard MS6209 is a mild steel corrosion inhibitor containing zinc and phosphate, specifically designed for use in
cooling water systems.

DeposiTrol PY5224 is a specially designed to disperse scale in cooling systems. GE Water & Process Technologies fed
DeposiTrol PY 5224 scale inhibitor which extends calcium carbonate control of the cooling water treatment program.
Shortly after beginning the DeposiTrol PY5224 feed, a buildup of a gray, silty material developed on the sump walls.

ScaleTrol PDC9313 is a deposit control agent used in process water systems. It contains a unique blend of organic
compounds that control fouling caused by suspended solids and precipitation of scaling ions.

Spectrus BD1500 is a non-ionic surfactant commonly used in water treatment programs to remove and disperse "soft
foulant" (biofilm-enmeshed mud, silt and clay) deposits in cooling water systems. For routine chlorination
treatments, this product is added for approximately 30 minutes prior to initiating treatment to enhance the
effectiveness of oxidizing biocides/chlorination. This product is also fed for at least 15 minutes prior to Towerbrom
treatments of the Unit 1 cooling tower basin. This product has a low toxicity and plant effluent will not exceed 2.0
mg/L of active ingredients.

Inhibitor* AZ8104 is a unique azole chemistry used for the inhibition of copper and copper alloy heat exchanger
surfaces. This material is used to establish a protective corrosion inhibitor film on the metal surface. it is compatible
with oxidizing biocides. This makes it a good choice for cooling systems where chlorine and/or bromine are used to
control microbiological activity. Indirectly, it also reduces the corrosion of steel surfaces within a given cooling
system. This occurs if the steel corrosion is a result of a galvanic reaction between the steel surface and the products
of copper corrosion which have been deposited on the steel.

Spectrus* CT1300 is a blend of biocidal agents specifically designed to control mussels in fresh water and marine
applications, typically in once through cooling systems. Mussels cause blockage of water pipelines and equipment,
causing damage, high maintenance and cleaning costs and plant shutdown. Spectrus CT1300 is also effective for the
control of microorganisms, especially algae, and biofilms in industrial cooling systems.
