1.6.1 Operation definitions

Create
This function is used to create an instance2 with all the attributes 2 displayed.
Review/modify
This function, with a list of attributes displayed, is used to review or modify:
• An instance
• All instances
• A selected family of instances according to specific criteria (example: all user sets of type
4035 and with directory number above 35000)
The reduced list of these attributes is defined by a preliminary operation which can be accessed
by selecting the Select attributes item (Refer to Review/modify ).
Modify
This function is used to modify an instance with a preselection of only those attributes to be
modified. This operation is performed in blind mode. The same operation may also be performed
using the Review/Modify mode (Refer to Review/Modify one single instance» or all instances ).
Delete
This function is used to delete an instance.

1.6.2 Create/Modify screens: general principles

In Create or Modify mode, a list of attributes is displayed. An attribute belongs to one of the
following four types:
- Node number in the network: this attribute is used by the system and cannot be
managed.
- Instance: this attribute is used by the system and cannot be managed.
- Identity attribute (also called Instance attribute): this concerns the identification numbers
(example: Directory Number).
- Characteristics Attributes: these are the attributes that characterize each instance
(example: characteristics of each user).

1.6.3 Create

2
An object (Users for example) is characterized by attributes Customer management via mgr -
Configuration procedure grouped in an instance (User set, for example, defined by the
Directory number instance attribute). An object is part of a list containing other objects
(attendant, speed dialing/abbreviated dialing, etc.) used to configure an OmniPCX 4400
globally

2.2 Speed Dialing (Abbreviated Numbering)

Speed dialing numbers are used to call external correspondents.
To use this feature, the user dials a simplified number on the set and the PBX automatically
dials the corresponding external number (see Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise CS - User
Services/Miscellaneous features documentation).
A table containing up to 15,000 speed dialing numbers (0 to 14,999) maximum can be created.
These numbers are declared in different sections or ranges (0 to 399) which are used to define
user access to speed dialing from their operating category (management performed by the
installation technician).
For each speed dialing number, up to 15 different aliases can be created. These aliases are
additional names used in the Call by name feature.
A section can only contain speed dialing numbers with successive indexes (e.g.: 101 to 150).

A difference must be made between the direct speed dialing numbers and the speed dialing
numbers by section.
Direct speed dialing numbers
The user enters a prefix to call the correspondant's number.
All direct speed dialing numbers are stored in the same section, which is global with respect to the
network. The content is distributed automatically to all the nodes in this network.
This section cannot overlap the “speed dialing numbers by section” sections.
Example 1:
Section with first index 100 and length 300

     !" 2-29

Chapter 2 & '

Speed dialing numbers by section

As a complement to the direct speed dialing used across the entire network, speed dialing by
section is used to manage speed dialing numbers specific to the:
• Nodes
• Entities across the network
To send a speed dialing number, the user dials the prefix corresponding to the section followed by
the order number of this section.
The speed dialing numbers are contained in one or more sections, numbered from 0 to 399.
If required, these sections may overlap and even be superposed.
Example 2:
200 speed dialing numbers are distributed in 3 sections, one of which has 95 numbers, another 10 numbers
and the third one 105 numbers.

At initialization, the sections are empty.

You must assign a prefix for each section created (8 characters maximum).

2-30 !"

& '

Example 3:
Section prefix 1 = 11
Section prefix 2 = 12
Section prefix 3 = 13
Users with access to section number:
• 1 must dial 1150 to obtain the abbreviated number with index 50
• 2 must dial 12104 to obtain the abbreviated number with index 199
• 3 must dial 139 to obtain the abbreviated number with index 104
If the system has an ISDN access as well as the Automatic Attendant feature, all the speed
dialing numbers by section are used to identify correspondents in ISDN i/c, the i/c ISDN numbers
being translated into a directory name. If a user receives a call from a correspondent whose
number is declared in speed dialing will see the directory name of the correspondent on the set's
display panel.
