Net Carbon Accommodation Programme (Net Cap)

Our Net Cap buildings are state-of-the-art accommodation which provide a

comfortable and reliable living space while also being carbon negative.

We need your help to be able to maximise the capability of the Net Cap buildings and keep
them in their functional condition so that they remain as a comfortable and reliable living
space. The following is a brief guide on the building’s functions and how to use them.
 Heating
The building’s temperature is controlled
automatically using sensors that detect
when windows and doors are open.
Too hot?
• Close all windows and blinds. The buildings
temperature control turns off when windows
are opened and matches the outdoor
temperature.
• Close doors to prevent hot air from circulating
from the rest of the building.
Too Cold?
• Close windows and doors – underfloor heating
activates when outside temperature is less than
19°C.
Drying room
To keep drying room hot, doors
should be shut. By leaving the door
open the heating will turn off and
the hot air will escape decreasing
the efficiency of the drying room.
Run water down the drains in the drying rooms
every couple of months to flush them out. This will
reduce the chance of them drying out and
producing smell.
Electronics
Unplug all electronics when leaving the
building to stop any risk of electrical fire.
Especially do not cover electronics with
pillow or clothes.
Bathrooms
Run water down the drains int the
bathroom every couple of months to
flush them out. This will reduce the
chance of blockages.

Please be respectful of the buildings, they can be a great place to stay if
they are treated with respect.

Hot Water
To have access to hot water stagger
showers instead of all going in at
once. This will allow the hot water in
the boiler to refill and distribute the
water better. Another good way to
keep hot water flowing is to use the Ship routine
method (Get your body wet, apply your soap whilst
the water is not running, then rinse off) thus making
sure there is hot water for the rest of the occupants.
Do not zip tie shower buttons to keep hot water
going.
Doors
Please refrain from hanging up
bergens on doors as this could cause
damage to the door alignment. This
can cause the doors to not close
properly which can then affect heating.
Please be aware that the central door in the
corridor is controlled by a turnkey inside the
manifold room (which should be locked) the reason
for this is to segregate the corridor. If you require
access to the internal corridor, seek assistance from
Landmarc. Do not attempt to open door with force
as this will cause damage which could stop people
from being able to exit the building in case of an
emergency.
Boot washers
Please leave brushes at the boot
washers so that other people can
clean their boots.
Please turn off the water after use of boot washers
as if they are not being used this will waste water.
Windows
Window opening restrictors are fitted
and are not removable or adjustable.
Meaning if they are forced open then
then it can cause damage.
