5.1 Incentives and Rewards used in the main companies in the country
We must bear in mind that Nigeria is currently the largest and most important economy
in all of Africa. As additional data, its GDP grew by an average of 3.8%. This was due
to the fact that companies in the country promote new strategies in their companies,
such as the capacity of each of their workers, being a country that seeks to grow on a
day-to-day basis. They use a FIDA strategy that covers the period from 2017 to 2023.
Their goal is mainly to grow their economy in order to benefit their entire population in
general, companies have two main objectives:
• Strengthen the companies with the best pay and hire suitable people at both the
state and community levels to collaborate with the main value companies in the
country.
• Advance towards economic and financial inclusion among the workers of each
company so that young people can feel much more interested in wanting to
advance.
An example of a company that is one of the leading technology companies for the
country of Nigeria is Flutterware. According to the Atlanticride report (2020), what
most influences the company, which is one of the best online banking platforms in
Nigeria, is its own slogan: "Young people will grow up" which refers to the fact that it is
one of the companies with better treatment towards young people who have a view to
growing with them, offering them bonuses and first-class treatment. All this so that they
can transmit it to their clients. This company also accepts inequality in order to preserve
social harmony and give equal opportunities to everyone, thus creating a very
comfortable work environment.
Nigerian companies create many incentives and rewards for their employees related
to their participation and how their attitudes are both inside and outside the companies
in order to ensure their quality.
They have three strategic priorities:
• Charismatic leadership
Mainly, this dimension must be taken into account for the reason that it is a country
where collaboration among its members is important. The leaders must inspire a lot of
confidence to promote them in a very energetic way. This would only be possible if the
leader also has one of the six competencies which is empathy in order to understand the
dialogue and see the needs of their employees in order to take action. The main
characteristics of this dimension are to take into account the vision of the future,
decision-making, passion and above all inspiration.
• participative leadership
In the table of the six dimensions, Nigeria has a high score of a total of 5.65, being the
second most important that the leaders of the different companies must have in order to
be elected. It is based mainly on the inclusion of the ideas of the employees to make a
decision and this can benefit everyone equally. This is very important because in
Nigeria equal treatment is implemented a lot and with this to be able to develop new
skills with which they can create a comfortable work environment for everyone.
According to Victormochere's research (2022), this dimension is used by the leader of
the Cemento Dangote company, who is Aiko Dangote, who involves all his employees
to have a pleasant work environment, this is reflected in his speed in the processes and
in the the profits of the company
• Human oriented leadership
This dimension for Nigerian companies is highly influenced and goes hand in hand with
the previous one, since companies currently seek to create success not only in profits
but also to build a relationship with their employees. The chosen leaders They must
have these characteristics primarily: Patience, tolerance and above all the sensitivity to
understand the problems. Here for Nigerian companies such as previously mentioned
Flutterware cares a lot about the tasks of young people and their schedules so that they
can be encouraged for a much more comfortable work culture.
Conclusion
In Nigeria there are 3 main dimensions of leadership which are charisma, participation
and human orientation whose central idea of both is precisely to respond correctly to the
organizational culture which the country develops in order to improve both companies
and grow the country. . Having a bad leader can cause a deterioration or a total
disorganization of the companies
