**CHIMNEY SIZING CALCULATIONS

mf= Q/(µ X CV)

where:
Q=total capacity kw(kJ/s)
mf=Mass flow rate kg/hr(multiplied kg of flue Gases produced by 1 Kg of fuel)
µ=combustion efficiency
CV=Calorific value (39000 kj/kg)

Q=450kW*5=2250 kW

mf=2250/0.8x39000)=0.0721 kg/s of fuel

mg=mfx flow rate of combustion gases per 1k/s of fuel

flow rate of combustion gases per 1k/s of fuel=mass flow of air(24.2kg/s)+1kg/s of fuel=25.2kg/s

mg =25.2 X0.0721=1.8217 kg/s of gas

Ac=mg/ρxv
ρ=Density of the flowing liquid or gas (kg/m3)=1.1 kg/s
A= flow area (m2)
V=flow speed(m/s)equal to 5m/s for natural draft boilers
Ac=1.8217/(1.1X5)=0.33m2

Ac=π(D2/4)
D =(0.33X4/3.14)^0.5=0.64 m
