Its essential to lubricate the toric with |sopropancl so thatthe toric wil slip past the housing retaining ip and seal uniformly in ‘the housing nose radius . Insufficient lubrication can cause poor seal performance due to nonuniform loading (twisted torics or cocked seals ). Use of solvents other than 'sopropanol can leave @ residue on the toric or ramps and allow the toric to slide rather than lin seat. This can algo resutin poor seal performance de fo nonuniform leading Put the installation tool (9) onto the sea ing (1) with tore rng (2) Lower the rings ino a container with sopropanol unt al surfaces of the toric (2) are wet Totie.slding.on retainer.camp . Toric caught on housing retainer lip Toric siding on seal ramp Aer dipping the seal assembly in the solvent, shake the excess solvent from the seal assembly and immediately , pop the seal into the housing with a frm push of the installation tool . Remove the installation toot and check the seal stantout height at several places around the circurnference ofthe rng to verify an accurate instalation . If the seal does not meet the height specification , inspect the toric for tists or obvious. With all surfaces ofthe toric ring (2) wet with Isopropanol , use the installation too! (8) to position the ‘seal ring (1) and the toric ring (2) ‘squarely against the housing (5) as shown . Use sudden and even pressure to pop ( push ) the toric fing (2) under the retaining lip (3) of the housing (5) . Service Manual ‘The seal can be adjusted by gently pushing the totic i Faas aoa eted by geny pushing the tric into postion by hand or by using 2 If small adjustments are necessary , donot push directly con the seal ring (1) ; use the installation too! (9) to push down cr the adjustment tool (11) to pull up thin fim of ight ol should be applied to the séal faces prior to assembly . Use an applicator , a disposable tissue or a : clean finger to distribute the oil evenly . Be careful not to get any ol on the rubber toric rings Be sure there's no visible debris on either of the seal faces - ‘even a small piece of lint can hold the seal faces apart and cause leakage ‘After successful installation , wait one minute for the Isopropanol to dry before assembling the two seal halves in the final loaded position . This delay is to allow any excess solvent to dry so that the torics roll, rather than slide, in the housing as the faceload is increased . Ifthe torics side , this can produce a nonuniform load that can result in poor seal performance Results of incorrect assembly : Point A, and point , B remain stationary . Points , X, and , Y, rotate 180° This causes high pressure at,A./, Y4 and possible calling . When rotated, points ,B ,/,X, has low pressure and possible leakage Cogvataszambed postion Rotated 180° Service Manual After the unit to be sealed is assembled , a post - assembly leakage test can be performed to insure the seal is properly installed ‘A vacuum check is recommended rather than a pressure check os vacuum checks are more sensitive . Many users find this an easy check to combine with a vacuum fil technique for the lubricant . itis recommended the compartment be filed to the correct level with lubricant and then rotated slowly several revolutions to seat the seals A vacuum test will catch big seal damage such as broken seal rings or cut tories that may be caused in the last phases of assembly . The Duo - Cone seal is not designed to seal air , so some leakage can be expect using such a procedure . Following these guidelines and recommendations should insure optimum performance from the Duo = Cone - seals, Service Handbuch Montage Planetengetriebe Assembly planetary gear drive [ERI] Service Honabuch i [ERE service manuat (pe cremate mb ton Smart teen (et Soma) ‘Assembly the thusteing PesstnEatrg( nt dover ‘Assombly ofthe sun gear (3) ep wtenpa e o t e ain) Servi ce Handbuch | 644 [REMI] Serco tonuat [ona SENG encne Srey aynaefee bat Ate, ‘Assamblyofplanstry ge tt eee eg 0p. 1) py on.) rt restnie ny ra12 09 2) de ae e611.) pmvetansentaa po pny ath 28.2) eg nat) pny neg 28 ah Service Manual | 6.2.1 ‘Assembly of the planctary hating ta Service Handbuch no trg(3) othe ant ea. ey ange on yn 19) Poougantoe ‘Austen ofthe ai ctearance ‘eter ote matty over hie aang st ‘oct ne at en lp ae ata er een 1) ones 186 aan (Race Htoe 8) Peter nce ete Prceann ie ota ce 28, al eg ce en leper ie nage angie Paani (22) ‘an 18) 9898 Decimornncisen mines ee Patan (2 21) [EUIE| Service Hanabuch | 624 ai Service Manual 6.1.4 Montage Planetnathiuss ‘os heg(20) mean Prine mit Penne ste tose i isp ce cn Spt ‘eter eect er Esdrbs ete ntact oe Dt ‘Kode engin aeuma" te 03 (me ‘nna: So ae caterer ms eB ‘sgn weet nate Disassemby of lana ge Io ele ib ms. 2 joey aba ee at Fes Pe panei innate Pg ‘twton: ‘pitta ape un ep ha it tee TEMUGEM)| Service manual | 6.1.5 eens [EA sever Handbuch ementagePaneten Assembly assembly cageers rede bearing (planetary seo basing} Se teem sorrg cy aca te! ede hve ih (se ‘rp ny te sae sib rae nn, {tamer ng pgs at nD | Service Handbuch 6.6 jear Aquessy SS a Aiqwessosig (IZ NS Service Manual | 6.5.41 (1th Service Handbuch ‘Assman. eat opr neat: treaty steam (12. 1) vetepmment ey ge) wey ong 2 29 pata ea se) ee tee eet rg) ene ‘tect anc nay 018 ‘eon can. ony atta typ ery ep er spn 82) th Service Handbuch | 6.1.2 Paseandvereion: Pema 2h 3 asm (Gobo) gn 1] ea eater trite on 18} Perma (Giton 2) ene Panta ‘vane 1) nous Panargiaes (22) ess IB) Tao, | somronmenrmccnsens TB) 7 | esse same seem reenen 1 | pment p32) och ‘Adjustment of the # planetary jk (27 )in the The axial clearance between sun gear and ust disk (27) housing must be 0,3 -0,7 mn Measure distances : Dimension A= Dimension B= Required thickness = A+ B- axial clearance ( 0,3 -0,7 mm) Mount the correctly dimensioned trust disk (necessary , make final correction ona lathe ) into the planetary housing .
