DIRECTION: Conduct security assessment based on the given situation.

Security problem: What is the current security/protection status of Universidad De Manila (UDM)
against the threat of an “Active Shooter”.

Note: An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a
populated area using firearm (FBI)

I. Using Your own familiarity and exposure to UDM, answer the following questions

1. Is the threat of having an Active Shooter in UDM an “existing” or “anticipated” one? Justify
your answer.

: the threat of having an Active Shooter in UDM is an anticipated threat. The reason for this is that
there is a credible threat of having an active shooter at the school but not at the very moment, we
are merely preparing for it when such a time comes.

2. What are the possible hazards that may lead to active shooting event in UDM? Explain how
these hazards may cause active shooting problem.

: the lax security at the gate, the UDM with its lenient security is quite prone to contrabands the way
they check for said contrabands is lacking and it may very well lead to the very situation.

3. How vulnerable is UDM from experiencing active shooting incident? Justify your assessment.

: the UDM is very vulnerable to an attack from an active shooter due to its lax security and easy to
penetrate perimeters, there is also a lack of awareness as to what to do when such time comes.

4. How will you describe the level/degree of risk that UDM will experience active shooting
security problem. Justify your answer.

: the level/degree of risk that the UDM experiences when it comes to an active shooter event is quite
high due to a great deal of lapses when it comes to its security, lack of awareness and perimeter
problems.

5. Based on the over-all assessment, what risk response will you recommend on the threat of
active shooting? Justify your answer.

: base on my assessment the risk response that I would do is firstly I would strengthen the security
and give them proper training on how to assess the threat if the time comes, then I would
strengthen the perimeter of the school and lastly, I will give proper orientation to the students on
what to do of the event comes.
