Field Work 11 – Mass Diagramming

Objectives:
1. To analyze mass diagram of an earthwork data set.
2. To construct mass diagram given excavations and earth fills.

Activity Guide:

1. Given is a table of earthworks cut and fill sections. Neglect swell and compaction factors.

2. Estimate the cut and fill volumes using the end-area method.

3. Fill-out the mass diagram ordinate starting at a value of 20,000 m3.
