ORAL STAGE
0-1 yrs old
Infants seek satisfaction through their mouths.
A disturbance may result in a permanent fixation.

ANAL STAGE
2-3 yrs old
Gratification moves from the mouth to
the anus, resulting in anal retentive and
anal expulsiveness.

PHALIC STAGE
Gratification on the genitals, with more
emphasis on their own genitals and other body.
Disturbance may lead to homosexuality,
territory problems (gender roles).

LATENCY STAGE
Gratitude for friendship, activities, and interaction
with same-sex peers.

GENITAL STAGE
Sexual expression in adults.
Disturbance may result in immaturity or a lack of
concentration on their own body.
