On today's rational deliberation, which spotlights on religion as
well as Rizal's retreat as part of the Philippine history. As the
affirmative side pointing out that Rizal did not die as a Catholic as well as Rizal did not retract. Due to the fact that he was no longer practicing Catholic, but remained very much a cultural one. Additional criterion, is the Rizal Bill, which branded Recto as a communist and anti-Catholic among those who condemned it. The Church anticipated the law would infringe freedom of religious expression and religion, thus according Abinales and Amoroso (2005) during the 1955 Senate race. Keep in mind that when we looked at Rizals chronology, including his interment, we were told that it was treated confidentially. Despite this, no catholic services or funerals were given in his honor. Despite the fact that Rizal was reconciled with the church, he was buried in the earth rather than a catholic cemetery. Throughout the history, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are some of novels publicized by Jose Rizal. Yet, these books were banned by Spaniards since they were written in antagonism to Catholic civilization and Spanish colonization. Why would someone type up anything that goes contrary his religion and tradition? That addresses the question of whether Rizal was a Catholic by stating that he did not die as a Catholic. On the other hand, Rizal did not retract since as stated by Fernandez about the letter of Rizal to his sister and the content expressing the denial retraction because Rizal knew the friars were misleading the Filipinos and he wanted to set an accurate record. if we admit the he was retracted how come Rizal was executed by firing squad by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion on Dec. 30, 1896, at Bagumbayan Field in Manila. Nevertheless, if he had been retracted, he may have had a Christian burial and to claim that, Dr. Jose Rizal did not retract as testified by his great grandnephew December 29, 2011. Another piece of proof that Rizal did not retract is that when Father Balaguer agreed to marry Jose and Josephine after Jose signed the retraction document, there was no marriage certificate or official record to back up Father Balaguer's claims. Next thing is the petition was refused when Rizal's family requested the original of the document or a copy of the claimed retraction letter because there were no retraction certificate at all. Hence, on the works of Rizal being against the church, we can conclude that Rizal did not die as a catholic.
