THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD (MODULE 4)

CRISTY JEAN E. BARCOS

BSCRIM1 SECTION H

LESSON 6: ASSESSMENT

1. What are the conflicting ideas between religious thought and the ideology of globalism
discussed in Lesson 1?

 Globalization transforms the genetic ‘religion’ into a world-system of competing and

conflicting religions. This process of institutional specialization has transformed local,
diverse and fragmented cultural practices into recognizable systems of religion.

2. Why is secularization theory out-dated?

 The reason that this is an important argument is because the United States is a secular
society, which means that the social structure is not based on or tied to any one particular
region.

3. How do you describe the reactions of some religious movements to globalization? How do
others facilitate globalization?

 Globalization is sometimes portrayed as a process; it advances gradually over time,

spreads widely through space, and seems to be unstoppable in its progression.
Globalization, on the other hand, is a transition, one of the most profound movements
the world has ever seen. Globalization is in reality, the first truly global revolution.

LESSON 6: ACTIVITY

Select one of the religions (Buddhism, Christianism, Hinduism)

* search their history

* describe their;

A.) the religion’s concept of good

B.) the religion’s concept of evil

C.) the steps needed by a person to become good and prevent himself or
herself from becoming evil.
History of Christianism

 The history of Christianity concerns the Christian religion, Christian countries, and the
Christians with their various denominations, from the 1st century to the present.
Christianity originated with the ministry of Jesus, a Jewish teacher and healer who
proclaimed the imminent kingdom of God and was crucified.

A.) The good is the right relation between all that exists, and this exists in the mind of the Devine,
or some heavenly realm. The good is the harmony of a just political community, love, friendship, the
ordered human soul of virtues, and the right relation to the Divine and to Nature.

B.) Christian science believes that evil arises from a misunderstanding of the goodness of nature,
which is understood as being inherently perfect if viewed from the correct (spiritual) perspective.
Misunderstanding God’s reality leads to incorrect choices; which are termed evil.

C.) To be faithful citizens, we rely on the virtue of prudence, supported by a well-formed

conscience. Then, it boils down to this; 1.) do good and 2.) avoid evil.

Compare the religions relationship with politics

 The religions relationship is your choice and it depends on your beliefs while politics is a
messed up thing in the world, cause of people who run the positions .
