History is important to us as it tracks down the life and events of people from ancient civilization until

our present day. Aside from this, history helps us explore the different cultures that emerge from
different time periods. Despite the vast literary pieces that depict different time periods, there are
sources that might not be reliable. This is why historians contribute to verifying these sources as some
might be altered, which nowadays is a big issue as social media is accessible to everyone. Given that
history has produced both positive and negative outcomes, it should serve as a guide for us as we shape
our future.

The lecture helped me learn more about the fundamental concepts and importance of history. I would
not have known that History and Kasaysayan are distinct from one other but arrive with the same goal of
acquiring knowledge about the past. In addition, I also learned how history is not only limited to politics
of each country and war of nations, but also the art that is present in the environment and culture. Aside
from this, sources are crucial to the expansion of history, whether or not it has been revised or altered
for the benefit of others. Here, we discussed the difference between primary and secondary sources,
which made it easier for me to identify both types.
