MECHANICS
WHAT IS BODY MECHANICS
IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION?
Body Mechanics is simply,
Also called as, biomechanics and
kinesiology, it applies the popular
principles of engineering and physics to
basic human movement.
WHAT ARE THE BASIC BODY
MECHANICS?
The four components of
body mechanics include
posture, Base of support
and center of gravity,
muscle-groups, and
lifting technique.
WHAT IS THE MOST
IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE OF
BODY MECHANICS?
The rules of body mechanics are the same. It's
important to always face the person (or object)
you are moving. Employees/students / member
of the family should pivot their feet instead of
twisting their body. The shoulders, hips, and
toes should all be pointing the same direction.
HOW DO I PRACTICE PROPER
BODY MECHANICS?
Your feet should be apart, with one foot slightly in
front of the other.
Keep your back straight.
Bend from your hips and knees.
Do not bend at your waist.
Lift the object using your arm and leg muscles.
Hold the object close to your body at your waist
level.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF
BODY MECHANICS?
Body mechanics refers to the way you hold
your body when you move around. Proper
body mechanics help you avoid muscle
fatigue and injuries as you walk, bend over,
lift objects, or perform other activities of
daily living. Think of body mechanics as
good posture in motion

WHAT IS POSTURE?
Posture is how you hold your body. There are
two types: Dynamic posture is how you hold
yourself when you are moving, like when you
are walking, running, or bending over to pick
up something. Static posture is how you hold
yourself when you are not moving, like when
you are sitting, standing, or sleeping
WHAT IS POSTURE IN
PHYSICAL EDUCATION?
Posture is the position in which you hold your
body while standing, sitting or lying down.
Good posture involves training your body to
stand, walk, sit and lie so as to place the least
strain on muscles and ligaments while you are
moving or performing weight-bearing
activities.
WHY POSTURE IS
IMPORTANT?
Good posture is important to your overall health
and offers a variety of benefits including reduced
back pain, increased energy, and greater
confidence. Having good posture is important to
your overall health, as it can help you avoid
muscle tension, pain, fatigue, and many other
common ailments and medical conditions.

1. How will you assess your
own body mechanics (from
the scale of 5 as the highest
and 1 as the lowest)
2. Give your own personal
justification on the scores
you gave for your self.
