Use there is / there are to say that something does or doesn’t exist, or to say its location.
there’s is the contracted form of there is. There are does not have a contracted form.
A Read about the Winchester Mystery House. Complete the sentences with there’s,
there isn’t, there are, or there aren’t.
(1.) a big, strange house in California: the Winchester Mystery
House. (2.) about 160 rooms in the house, including 40 bedrooms,
and (3.) three elevators. (4.) stairs and doors that go
nowhere. (5.) a special room in the house. (6.) only
one door that goes into the room, but (7.) three doors that exit it.
(8.) a beautiful garden and a large bell. Many tourists visit the house.
(9.) tours during the day, but (10.) any tours at night.
(11.) an easy way to get out—so be careful! Don’t get lost!
