Learning Task 3
Based on what I've gleaned from the text, I believe it emphasizes the Americanization of the Filipino
people. Although it can be seen that Baldo's dismay towards Maria was very evident later in the
passage, it was observed that Baldo had changed her mind about Maria, although in a subtle way. Even
when the father was questioning Baldo, the majority of the questions were directed toward ensuring
Maria's comfort on his way to their home, with only a few questions directed toward Labang.

Learning Task 5
What could be a more permanent solution to the problems that we encounter as a nation?
As a nation,we are still confronted with so many problems, issues and concerns.Just like
during the time of Rizal, the Filipinos were not so united, they were afraid and dependent and
hopeless. In today’s situation,Filipinos are still struggling towards unity, are soft,Easy-going,
parasitic, frivolous,Inconstant, indolent, inefficient.
In order for us to at least realized what Jose Rizal did to us,that he fought for our
freedom,to be liberated from poverty and ignorance and colonization, each of us must make our
move. It’s not not only the government who will find ways and means to solve or at least lessen
these problems and issues we are going through. One permanent solution will be a stricter
implementation of the constitution or government laws.Sustainable and Strategic Initiatives that
will uphold the integrity and morals of the Filipino workers, adapt measures to improve our
socio, economic and political problems.A strong political will is also much needed geared
towards our countries growth and development.
