Mrs. Jones walked quickly back to the parking lot. It was already
half past five and she wanted to get home before dark. She got
into her car but then she had to wait for a long time before she

got out of Soekarno Hatta airport and onto the toll road to
Jakarta.
It felt strange to be in the car alone. Usually their driver drove,
but today he was sick. She turned on the radio and listened to the
six o’clock news.
Six o’clock already! And it was dark now, too. There weren’t
many cars on the toll road and Mrs. Jones started to feel a bit
lonely. A bit lonely, and a bit afraid. Then, suddenly, the car
started to move from side to side. “Oh, no,” she thought, “Not a
puncture, please!”

She stopped at the side of the road and checked all the tires. One
of the front tires was flat! Completely flat! She looked more
closely. There were nails in it. Three or four silver nails. And all
the nails were new!
