Report on Lecture held on 10th August, 2023

The Department of Philosophy in association with Department of Political


Science organized a Lecture under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava (AKAM) on
10th August, 2023. Dr. Abha Sudarshan, the Principal of Post Graduate
Govt. College, Sector-46, Chandigarh gave a floral welcome to the guest and
introduced the distinguished speaker. Dr. Gobind Chandra Sethi, Head,
Department of Political Science introduced the theme of the lecture.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Associate Professor, P.G. Department of Sociology, Post


Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh delivered a lecture
on “Inclusive Development in India”. He said inclusive development
promotes fair opportunities for all, regardless of social and financial
standing, with advantages accruing to each and every segment of society.
Improved access to essential services such as water, sanitation, housing,
electricity etc., as well as targeted efforts for underprivileged population
shall go a long way in building an even more inclusive India. The Indian
Government identified the segments for Inclusive Development which
includes Tribal and Rural Communities, Physically Disabled persons,
Unbanked Sector, Women, Financial Improvement and Skill Development,
Education, Healthcare and Sanitation, Childcare, Infrastructure
Development in Rural and Tribal Areas, Awareness about Legal Rights and
Government Schemes, and Entrepreneurship etc. He answered all the
questions raised by students and participants.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar (Dean), Dr. Baljit Singh (Vice-Principal) and Ms. Jyoti
(Faculty of Political Science) were also present in the lecture. Dr. Desh Raj
Sirswal (Head, Department of Philosophy) delivered vote of thanks and more
than 100 students from the philosophy and political science departments of
the college participated in the programme.
