WHAT IS A CANAL FALL?

We usually construct our canal on permissible slope but the ground

surface is not even so by this when water flows it has a high kinetic
energy which hits the ground surface results in silting and scouring.
And to minimize this we usually construct a masonary structure named
as fall.

NECCESSITY
The natural slope of canal is not uniform and it suddenly changes so
the flow will can't be controlled in this case we have to construct a
fall.

FUNCTION
It's main function is to dissipate the kinetic energy of flow.
