REGISTRAR’S DIVISION
The University requires professional Security Officers who are accustomed to working in a large premises, to secure
people, property and assets on the University’s premises; and to prevent and minimise crime, loss or damage, harm
or injury.
Security Officers are required to be highly visible. They deter crime, secure premises, patrol, and monitor security
during general campus activities. They monitor the campus for risks, threats, safety and security hazards, traffic and
parking problems, suspicious persons, suspicious vehicles and suspicious activities.
Security Officers are responsible for enforcing University rules and regulations, apprehending wrong-doers,
reporting incidents and possible threats, and providing initial assistance to people requiring assistance.
The Security Officer reports to the Supervisor or Senior Security Officer and carries out all duties and tasks as
assigned by the line manager.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 10 and Grade C PSIRA Registration
Basic First Aid Course
Fire Fighting Training
One (1) year’s relevant security experience
An excellent working knowledge of the security profession - theory, practice and special training
techniques
