2. In a packet of groceries there is 2kg packet of sugar, 500g of flour, 6 eggs that each weigh
50g, and a packet of sweets that weighs 125g.
How much does the packet of groceries weigh? [3]
= 2 000g (1 mark) + 500g + 6 × 50g + 125g

= 2 500g + 300g (1 mark) + 125g

= 2 800g + 125g

= 2 925g (1 mark)

Question 9 [5 marks]
1. Calculate the perimeter of this shape: [3]

= 35mm + 35mm + 4cm + 4cm (1 mark)

= 3.5cm + 3.5cm + 4cm + 4cm (1 mark)

= 7cm + 8cm

= 15cm (1 mark)

2. What is the area of this shape?  [2]

Area = 10 squares + 5 × ½ squares

= 10 + 2½ squares

= 12½ squares
