The word of the Lord PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

The beauty of the language of the prophet Isaiah continues
RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Ps 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14) to be a source of great encouragement as this Advent Time
R. (Isaiah 35:4f) Our God will come to save us! unfolds.
I will hear what God proclaims; LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
the LORD –for he proclaims peace to his people.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him, 1. May all weary hands be strengthened and faint
glory dwelling in our land. hearts be filled with courage.
2. May the sick receive that healing of body, mind and
heart which brings acceptance and peace.

3. May those who are unable to walk, or do so with

pain and difficulty have friends who will be
courteous and helpful.

4. May those who are blind or have limited vision, and

those who are deaf or have hearing difficulties find
that people are understanding toward them, helpful
when they are in need and receive the grace to cast
their anxieties on the Lord.

Lord God, speak peace to your people, and help all who
suffer. Through Christ our Lord.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

Accept, we pray, O Lord, these offerings we make,
gathered from among your gifts to us,
and may what you grant us to celebrate devoutly here below
gain for us the prize of eternal redemption.
Through Christ our Lord.

PREFACE OF ADVENT I
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father,
almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.

For he assumed at his first coming the lowliness

of human flesh,
and so fulfilled the design you formed long ago,
and opened for us the way to eternal salvation,
that, when he comes again in glory and majesty
and all is at last made manifest,
we who watch for that day may inherit the great promise
in which now we dare to hope.

And so, with Angels and Archangels,

with Thrones and Dominions,
and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven,
we sing the hymn of your glory,
as without end we acclaim:

Holy, Holy, Holy...

COMMUNION ANTIPHON
(Cf. Ps 106 (105): 4-5; Is 38: 3)
Come, O Lord, visit us in peace,
that we may rejoice before you with a blameless heart.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

May these mysteries, O Lord,
in which we have participated,
profit us, we pray,
for even now, as we walk amid passing things,
you teach us by them
to love the things of heaven
and hold fast to what endures.
Through Christ our Lord.
