Answers:

1. E
2. B
3. C
4. B

Solution:

Difference in Number of applicants of RRB PO and SBI Po = 18.75%-15% = 3.75%

Given, 3.75% = 60,000

So, 100% = 60000*(100/3.75) = 16,00,000

For IBPS Clerk

Number of applicants = Applicants who gave prelims = 16,00,000 * 26.25% =

4,20,000
In Prelims, Male applicants = 420000*13/24 = 2,27,500

Female applicants = 420000*11/24 = 1,92,500

Number of applicants who gave mains exam = 420000*2/3 = 280000

In Mains, Male applicants = 280000*4/7 = 160000

Female applicants = 280000*3/7 = 120000

Number of applicants who gave interview = 280000 * 18.75% = 35000

Number of applicants who got final selected = 35000*12% = 5000

Similarly, calculating for other 4 we get,

Q1.IBPS Clerk Mains + SBI clerk Mains = 2,80,000 + 2,80,000 = 5,60,000

IBPS PO interview + SBI PO interview = 21,000 + 28,125 = 49,125

Q2.Required ratio = [192500+120000] : [48000+88000] = 312500 : 13600 =

Answers:

1. A
2. C
3. B
4. C

Solution

Q1. For R

10 Cherries are purchased, so number of Apples and watermelons should

remain same.

Thus original Ratio is 2:3:4 (Apple: Cherry: Watermelon)

New Ratio will be [(1:2:2)*2] = 2:4:4

Now, 4u -3u = 10, 1u =10

So Original number of Apples = 20, Cherry = 30 and Watermelon = 40

For Q similarly,

Thus original Ratio is 1:5:4 (Apple: Cherry: Watermelon)

New Ratio will be [(3:5:4)*1] = 3:5:4

3u-1u = 2u = 20, 1u =10

So Original number of Apples = 10, Cherry = 50 and Watermelon = 40

For P

Total fruits purchased= 180

So Original number of Apples = 180*5/18 =50, Cherry = 70 and

Watermelon = 60
So ratio of total Cherry: Apple: Watermelon

= [30+50+70]: [20+10+50]: [40+40+60] = 150: 80 : 140 =15:8:14

Q2. Let in P Apple = 5p, Cherry = 7p and watermelon = 6p

Let in Q Apple = 1q, Cherry = 5q and watermelon = 4q

Let in R Apple = 2r, Cherry = 3r and watermelon = 4r

Now Given,

5p-2r = 20 ---- eq (1)

3r-6p = 30 -----eq(2)

From 1 and 2, we have

p = 30 and r = 90

Thus in P, Apples = 150, Cherry = 210 and watermelon = 180

Thus in R, Apples = 180, Cherry = 270 and watermelon = 360

Now in Q total fruits purchased = [180+270+360] * 2/3 = 540

Thus in Q, Apples = 540*1/10 = 54, Cherry = 270 and watermelon = 216

Required Difference = [270+210] – [180+216] = 84

Q3. For T, If watermelon is 40% then apple + cherry = 60%.

Ratio of apple and cherry is 1:1, thus apples is 30% = 27 [=cherry]

So 40% = Watermelon = 27*[4/3] = 36

Thus required % = [36-27] *100/36 = 9*100/36 = 100/4 = 25%

Q4. Ratio of Apple: Cherry = 6:7, and, ratio of Apple: Watermelon = 6:5

Thus, Apple: Cherry: Watermelon = 6:7:5

Again roots of the quadratic equation are 4 and 6

Since 6 is the highest root,

Apples = 6*6 = 36, total fruits = 36*[18/6] = 108

Age of Ashish = 64 + 12 - 24 = 64 - 12 = 52 years > 32 years (Wrong)
Option B,
Age of Ravi = 72 - 48 = 24 years
Age of Deepak = 24 × 7/4 = 42 years
Age of Ashish = 42 + 12 - 24 = 42 - 12 = 30 years
Age of Vivek = 72 - (30 + 24) = 72 - 54 = 18 years
(42 - 6) : (18 + 9) = 36 : 27 = 4 : 3 (Right)
Option C,
Age of Ravi = 72 - 36 = 36 years
Age of Deepak = 36 × 9/5 = 64.8 years
Age of Ashish = 64.8 + 12 - 20 = 64.8 - 8 = 56.8 years > 32 years (Wrong)
Option D,
Age of Ravi = 72 - 44 = 28 years
Age of Deepak = 28 × 9/4 = 63 years
Age of Ashish = 63 + 12 - 20 = 63 - 8 = 55 years > 32 years (Wrong)

Q5. From (I), Upstream Speed = x km/h, Downstream Speed = y km/h

460/x + 460/y = 46
1/x + 1/y = 1/10
From (II), y = 50, x = (50 × 10)/(50 – 10) = 12.5 km/h
From (III), x = 25/2 = 12.5, y = (12.5 × 10)/(12.5 – 10) = 50 km/h
Speed of Stream = (50 – 12.5)/2 = 18.75 km/h
Either I & II or I & III are sufficient

E. 12
Answers:

1. E
2. A
3. E
4. D
5. C

Solutions:

Q1. 170 + 112 = 291

291 + 132 = 460
460 + 152 = 685
685 + 172 = 974
A = 291,
Similarly, B = 291, C = 435
A=B<C

Q2. 43+3 = 16, 46-6 = 40, 40+12 = 52, 52-24 = 28,

28+48 = 76, 76-96 = -20, -20+192 = 172,
172-384 = -212, -212+768 = 556
So, n = 10

Q3. 100 – 95 = 5
110 – 100 = 10 (5 + 5)

172 + (32 – 1) = 180
A = 98
98 + (73 + 1) = 442
442 + (63 + 1) = 659
659 + (53 + 1) = 785
785 + (43 + 1) = 850
850 + (33 + 1) = 878
B = 98
15 + 10 × 20 = 25
25 + 10 × 21 = 45
45 + 10 × 22 = 85
85 + 10 × 23 = 165
165 + 10 × 24 = 325
